The pole was a 141.635...wonder how we stack up with that.

The mod is a pay to play mod, runs about $15 at the RSS site...very nice looking mod that reflects the 2004 FIA cars like the GTR2 default stuff...
Not even close with the default setup. Bout 8 seconds off after one session. But what Im more interested in, is why the need for the RSS mod? Some of them are running the Maserati MC12 GT1 (which is available in DLC) and I guess the track is lilski's Glen? What's the RSS part add?

They might just be better cars, those guys are probably very good too.......???
Kevin was about a second and a half off the pole time I think...

We could do an equivalent HLC with the GTR2 cars at the Glen and see how that compares...

I don't think there's any doubt those guys are very VERY good! lol Still not sure why they need the RSS mod though, with the cars and track available elsewhere? Do you get access to a server or something too? Also, the guy doing the play-by-play mentioned someone had damage, and I could see it on the nose of the car.. I don't think "basic" AC has that? I've seen parts fall off but have never seen visible damage to parts still on the cars?

Sometimes I think folks feel that the "Pay to Play" stuff is better, just based on the fact that they have to pay for it...I don't know...
One thing is certain with the 3rd party p2p stuff, when they create a series set, the cars are matched correctly, there may be some sloshing with the sim's cars, they aren't set up as a series thing, not like they should be.

I know the windshield shattered on one of the cars in the race...other than that visible damage isn't very obvious. The parts fall off yes...

So I ran a series of races in the SPEC Ford in rFactor last night just little 5 lappers, but had a ball, didn't run the Q session just let it toss me in randomly, which seemed to be P18 in a 25 car field everytime.

I ran Mid-Ohio, Willow Springs, Lime Rock, and Laguna Seca...I managed a win in all of them...with some great battles along the way. One thing about the ai in rFactor, they'll fight you, they block you, then once you get by them they just give up. Oddly though, if they are behind you they'll try to get by you...if they had just combined those two behaviors we'd of had some fantastic ai to race.

I like the Spec Ford, it is a fun car that doesn't overpower the tracks...ever...

Obviously I need to crank the ai up a little to make it more of a fight, i didn't just blow thru the fields, but I was able to get to lead by
the last lap in each race...only at Laguna Seca did it seem like I might not get it done, the lines the ai wanted made it tough to pass.

I haven't just raced for fun like that in a while, not short races anyway...I usually make them substantially longer races...but with thes low powered cars the sprints felt right.

BTW, I want to include more Race Challenges in this section, but I find that most of the ones I've put up don't get much attention.

I do realize that Hot Lapping at its core is just single laps, but I'd just like to grow it into some racing.

In rFactor the higher the aggression level the harder they fight to not be passed and to pass and that depends on how the mod makers set it up, mods with driver files seem to put up a better fight.

Paid content should be a better quality then free, I just hope they don't go crazy actually trying to make a living making mods.

I like them aggressive, but I don't like them punting me in every turn...I made the decision early in the first race after getting spun a couple times in two laps, that I would be giving it rather than taking it...what did Kyle Busch just say, "I race you how you race me"...I get that...

A proposal for Racing Challenges.

We only run the Tudor mod in rFactor

We only run the BTCC mod in rFactor 2

We use every other sim for every other thing that pops in Highbank's brain.

The reason I'm proposing this is that we just spent the better part of the last 3 weeks learning how best to hustle the car of our choice around the track and then there is the challenge of the multi-class racing that's proving to be the most fun. Of all the car's I've run in both RF 1 & 2 these two seem to be the most fun and most competitive series racing.

What I'm proposing.

30 Minute races following the BTCC schedule with 19 A.I. cars or the most the track will allow.

2 Hour races following the IMSA schedule with 39 A.I. cars or the most the track will allow.

Since we just did IMSA, Brands Hatch Indy is the first race of the BTCC schedule.

Since there only seems to be 3 guys wanting to take on this type of challenge, I say as soon as the third guy finishes the race we move on to the next. Highbank, you could even change the name of the one we're doing now to rFactor IMSA and rFactor 2 BTCC racing Challenge.

What do you guys think?

I have not been hot lapping because of no motivation, and an obvious lack of talent. Also, I am not much of a road racer, as I can barely go in a circle without wrecking.

Also I have little patience to run a full race as of now. Not until I get my skills up to snuff.

Fine with me, but I'd recommend 30 minutes and 1 hour, maybe with a set fuel limit so you have to pit? Though I don't know if the AI will agree.. lol
2 hours is a long time though.. My arse is still sore.. x'D

I'm not that great either, but I put the seat time in and then challenge myself to make the most consecutive clean laps I can, as I do this I usually get faster, you just have to learn a little quicker in a race. I usually practice for at least a week with the A.I. set where we're using it.

That's the challenge of it. BTCC run 2 short races instead of one, but since we can't do that format with this sim 30 minutes is good, Go to Brands Hatch Indy or Knockhill(I think it's in sim), to bad Rockingham Road Course ins't in sim yet, LOL!

You have the # of the secretary in the background? :angel:x'D Nice paint! Im finding my skills as a painter died with the original cup cars of NR2003.. Just don't have the time, patience or skill to do more than a solid color and maybe some racing stripes.. Plus my laptop crashes every time I load a .dds into rFactor and try and look at the thing.. :confounded:

LawdaMercy.. That place is bumpy! I know nothing of IMSA or TUDOR, but it seems like the Vette would struggle here? Seems kind of big and lazy in the first LRLR section and coming off those slow right handers it'll step out if your not real careful. (and those big curbs really upset it) In an endurance race I imagine I'll spin out numerous times if I try to turn really fast laps with the AI..

I finally got ahead of the GTD cars, but still last in the GTLM class, 2 seconds off the next car and 3 seconds off the fastest GTLM.. 2:06.5 I think is my best so far. 3 more seconds will be tough to find..

Hows that improved AI coming boss?? These kamikaze will flat wreck you here! lol
