It appears to have been leaked by the Fanatics NASCAR Shop that Tony Stewart will be making his racing return to NASCAR in 2022 (heavily rumored that it will be for the Xfinity Series race on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway):

No.
Unlike the mock up for the Wood Brothers livery, this looks properly executed.

I honestly do not understand why people are losing their minds over sliding the numbers forward. This demonstrably proves that it's fine.

We just are not used to it yet... By this time next year it will be normal to us hopefully :)

Jeb Burton might end up at Our Motorsports.

Johnny Sauter will be part time at Thorsport and keep the number 13, still will be 4 trucks overall, 66, 88, 98, 99 for the full time numbers.

AJ Allmendinger, Daniel Hemric, Noah Gragson Splitting Time in Second Kaulig Racing Cup Car (credit to Jayski):

Acquiring three out of the four 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) Championship 4 drivers, Kaulig Racing’s No. 16 Camaro ZL1 will be piloted by AJ Allmendinger, Daniel Hemric and Noah Gragson, as each will compete part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series (NCS).

While the team announced earlier this year that Allmendinger would pilot the No. 16 for select races in the 2022 NCS season alongside full-time driver, Justin Haley, Kaulig Racing has finalized its second, full-time entry with Gragson and Hemric.

“We think our roster for the 2022 season features some great drivers,” said team president, Chris Rice. “Having three out of the four Xfinity Series championship contenders helping to build our new Cup Series program, is truly a tremendous opportunity for this Kaulig Racing team. While these guys have been fierce competitors for the last few years, having them bring that same tenacity as teammates will be extremely fun to watch and a great way for this team to grow in its first, full season in the Cup Series.”

With the 2021 NXS champion already tabbed for Kaulig Racing’s flagship, No. 11 Chevrolet in the series, Hemric will make his return to the NCS for the first time since winning the Cup Series Rookie of the Year award in 2019. Hemric has made 38 starts in the NCS, earning a pole award, one top-five and two top-10 finishes.

“I have had the chance to race against some great drivers over the past few years,” said Hemric. “AJ (Allmendinger) is a great competitor, who can win on any track, and Noah [Gragson] and I have been teammates in the past at JR Motorsports. Each of us are different, but seeing how intense both AJ and Noah are as professionals gets me excited for this upcoming season. Now we have the opportunity to be able to lean on each other and try to build a program here at Kaulig Racing at the highest level of our sport. I feel fortunate to be a part of this.”

Finishing third in the 2021 NXS points standings, Noah Gragson will compete in 14 NCS races for Kaulig Racing, while Allmendinger and Hemric will participate in the remaining series events.

“This is a really unique opportunity I have with Kaulig Racing to be able to share the No. 16 with two of my biggest competitors in the Xfinity Series,” said Gragson. “I’ve had the chance to work with Daniel before, but it will be a new experience working with AJ. We’ve raced against each other for a few years now, and I think working as teammates will only help us get better as drivers.”

The 2022 season will mark Kaulig Racing’s first-ever full-time season in the NCS, as the team will field two, full-time entries. More news regarding specific events and partners will be announced at a later date.

Well shoot, I thought Kaulig would finally announce the second number. Nice to see Hemric and Gragson both getting a shot, even though I don't really care for Gragson. I hope they make the most of the opportunity.

I like #31 better since it was unexpected. It's not exactly orderly, but it does follow their trend of having only car numbers with a 1 in them. Besides, Hattori is running #16 and #61 in the Trucks.

Yuki Tsunoda runs #22 in F1. Why should Penske run #22 in NASCAR?
That wasn't really my point. Teams don't have to conform to using certain numbering schemes just because they are logical, and especially since 16/61 is already being done by another active team, it makes sense to go in another direction.

Mars, Incorporated Ending Sponsorship of Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing, Exiting NASCAR at Conclusion of the 2022 Season (credit to Racer):

2021-daytona-500-18-scaled.jpg

Mars, Inc. will exit NASCAR and end its sponsorship at Joe Gibbs Racing after the 2022 season.

Sports Business Journal first reported the news Monday afternoon, which Joe Gibbs Racing has confirmed. Mars, notably its M&M’s brand, has been a primary sponsor at Joe Gibbs Racing since 2008, the first season Kyle Busch began driving for the team. With Mars colors on his Toyota, Busch has won over 50 races and the NASCAR Cup Series championships in 2015 and ’19.

“One of the great things I love about NASCAR is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships. Mars has been a tremendous example of that,” team owner Joe Gibbs said in a statement. “We have experienced so much together over the past 15 years, including two Cup Series championships, while developing friendships that will extend well beyond next year.

“I know everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing feels that way, and I’m glad we have the 2022 season to celebrate Mars and the contributions they have made to our sport over the past three decades.”

Mars brands that have appeared on Busch’s car aside from M&M’s include Double Mint, Pedigree, Snickers, and Skittles.

“I have been incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Mars for nearly 15 years now,” said Busch. “During this time, Mars Associates have been like family to myself, Samantha, and Brexton. In particular, my friendship with the Mars Family will be something that will last a lifetime. We have a relationship so much deeper than just having the honor of driving their colorful cars.

“I’m also proud that we’ve been able to bring them to victory lane 55 times in the Cup Series, including two Cup Series championships. I know our 18 team will work as hard as ever to bring them to victory lane as many times as we can in 2022, and hopefully, even another championship we can celebrate together.”

Their exit comes after three decades in the sport, having first entered in the 1990s with Derrike Cope in 1997 before becoming a team sponsor in 2000. Mars has also been an official partner of NASCAR since 2000, with M&M’s named the sport’s official chocolate.
