I heard people say rFactor's oval is just not the same as NR2003. NR2003 is literally everything NASCAR that you want. rFactor is literally everything else besides NASCAR that you want. Anything that is meant to go in circle works like butter with NR2003. As far as physics goes.... Modded physics EXE will already be made from HOBO WIN7 no cd. To try it you need to drop it in your nr2003 folder anyway. Owners of the original EXE don't have to do anything but drop a new working HOBO EXE into their game folder. It will not even Replace the Original EXE. You just going to have 2-3-4-5 as many EXE's as you want in one folder.
The only issue is - All physics editors people gotta make their EXE's with the correct HOBO Windows 7 No Cd, that's simple.
I have the PRC page of the lawsuit. You can still connect any EXE to any EXE , even the modded once. NOCD = EXE without disk checking lines. It is an altered EXE at last tho. Any EXE that is NOT IDENTICAL to original is altered. Lines of code has been removed from it.
Before HOBO nocd - there was 2 different once. Faitlight - 3.6MB and Razor1911 - 5.4 MB. No one got sued because no one cared to sue anyone.
Physics editor has been around since 2004. Back in those days iRacing was afraid that modded would come up with a "better" product than their game. So the whole "Kill a Modder" thing went on.
As far as the Actual Law Suit - I only know of one. And the guy won on all counts except for one. "Giving out full copy of the game for free along with his mod."
Modifying the way cars feel in game is not illegal. It is equivalent to changing INI TEXT files with notepad. Frankly you can use notepad to edit physics with the editor.
You can drop a different INI text file in your track folder to change how the cars feel. So you can drop a modded EXE in your folder to change the way cars feel.
As long as you are not coming out with "your own" stand alone product made from NR2003.
Dropping a NOCD patch is just the same as dropping MODDED PHYSICS EXE.
As far as the Actual Law Suit - does anybody else know of any other once that actually went on ? I would be super curios to research what went on.
Welp. JJ loves pheesacs.what happened to the discussion about "What Mods you'd like to see?"
Just sayin'
right. We can't reverse engineer and claim it as an all new game. But, from my limited understanding, we can now make pretty much any alteration we want provided it's still their basic structure and it is simply released as a mod under nr2k3. And of course, we can't charge for it.I think what happened is . They don't own NR2003 anymore , they still and forever will own "what makes NR2003".

And those 4 people were sued for? That's because no-cd patches don't alter the sim in anyway shape or form, now when Brian Ring was testing his altered exe I was running in two other on-line leagues, I had a separate install for his stuff, one day I forgot and tried to connect on-line with the original exe while running his, guess what, I couldn't join the server.
You guys do nothing but talk circles to make it sound like you're not doing anything wrong, reminds me of my children.
Oh and by the way, I know of four people personally who were sued and I know of 10 others. some have happened in the last 10 years.
ok....Everything you guys talk about here.
