BUNNINGS TRADE MOTORSPORT PARK (BTMP)

A fictional circuit for the Repco Supercars Championship in NR2003

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

BACKGROUND

Based in the fictional island country of Estollia, Bunnings Trade Motorsport Park is one of the most-loved racing venues in the country, and is known for the visually stunning "Red Rollercoaster" - a strip of red asphalt that covers the final sector of the lap.

Historically, this incredible venue was known as Mortico, named after the nearby town, before Bunnings Trade purchased naming rights from 2018 onwards. It has hosted a range of domestic events over the years, including an annual trip by the fictional Supercars Championship. Upgrades have also recently done to the pit facilities, following the announcement that BTMP will serve as the Season Finale for the next two years (having also done so in 2021 due to COVID restrictions).

It's a track that lends itself to frantic racing, and has witnessed some great battles over the years. The Red Rollercoaster is a fan-favourite, though a challenge for drivers, punctuated by heavy breaking zones at each end of the track, and very little margin for error.

THE TRACK

They don't call it the Red Rollercoaster for nothing - when tackling this track, drivers should brace themselves for a gruelling lap that requires 100% focus.

The braking zones into turns 1 and 4 are high-entry-speed uphill sections of track that require perfect judgement to get the corner right. The switchback from turns 2 to 3 is equally important towards getting a good run on the back straight, and is assisted by a healthy amount of runoff area which drivers are free to use on corner exit.

Once drivers have navigated turn 4, they enter the Red Rollercoaster - the red asphalt section of track that takes them first through a pair of uphill kinks in the forest, before falling down into the hairpin - one of the best overtaking opportunities of the track.

What follows is a breathtaking view of the circuit from the top of the hill. Fans on the PPG Skydeck have an incredible vantage point to look down at the action, but drivers have little time to rest before plunging into a technical s-bend section that takes them back on to pit straight.
