Ahh, but the immersion of a race car driver IS the fun. I'm surprised people playing NR2003 outside of the cockpit to be honest.
Its all subjective. Not everyone plays NR2003 to be a hardcore cockpit only sim racer. I play for fun offline racing in my own painted series/cars to see how things unfold and using different camera views to see the paint schemes I made. I race more for the show than skill or realism.

The only thing I use this game for is mock seasons and my own activities, I never drive. That is how I discovered the game (watching offline leagues on YouTube) and I love it just the way it is in that regard.

After a couple of laps with this new mod I don't have big issues with the gauges in cockpit view, but I would love to get the mirror moved slighty to the right, so you can see the ride side of it on one monitor without moving the head of the driver per key.

Guys it would be nice if FCR made an adjustment to the dash in the mod at some point were the gauges are useful, I know there is a trade off between accurate and function you have to play with. The FCR version is a bit small compared to what you see in person. When you look at the wide angle helmet camera vs what is actually seen by the driver it can be miss leading, the driver can read the information. A good example would be the IRacing version, it might be a bit larger than the real display but you can read it, I've attached a picture. While I know it is digital vs analog gauges you can tell the display is larger in the IRacing version. Again hats off to the guys at FCR for all their work. I'm just pointing out things that maybe V2 might address at some point if the team makes an update.

Wanted to chime in on this subject awhile back, but wanted to get pictures first. I love NASCAR Racing 2003. I also have rfactor 1, but it doesn't have the realistic racing of nr2003. Use it mostly for my personal love of driving open wheel cars on road courses. O.K. back to subject. I still like the Gen6 cockpit view the best for racing ovals. However, for road courses, I like the rooftop view, so I can see the other cars and the track turns better. The roof view in the MENC19 mod is my pic. So, I have an Oval season with Gen6 and a Road Course season with the MENC19 mod. Gen6 car is Pontiac G8, MENC19 car is Pontiac TransAm.
