They definitely screwed up.. The guy who officially calls the caution's needs to heed his corner officials. Was reported that before the race went green the turn 1 official told the booth the track was wet. The reply, "One to go at the line".. I've listened to the officials channel a lot and the corner officials are more suggestions than anything. The corner officials need the ability to throw cautions imo. The few seconds it takes to tell someone in the booth and them to "decide" if they want to throw a yellow could be the difference, especially for something like weather..
Not sure it cost JGR a win. Fords were bad fast. Who knows.
