HI guys,
I just bought a new windows 11 laptop that has an i9 processor and a Nvidia RTX4070 or 4080 (brain fart says I can't recall which off the top of my head). However I can't get the game's graphics configuration to actually recognize the Nvidia card. It only recognizes the on-board Intel Iris Xe

With just the base game I should be able to get great framerates with everything turned up but instead the system is bogged down to 4-8fps.

I did install the 4gb patch and tried the graphics tweaks in the core and the other file.

I really need help

In the Nvidia Control Panel did you change the 3D settings for Configure surround, PhysX from Auto Select (Recommended) to the NVIDIA Processor. I have a Dell G16 Laptop and had the same issue.

so I made sure every possible setting was set to the nvidia but it still does not show in the configuration settings. would the DEP have anything to do with it? When I switched to open GL rendering the framerate improved.

I have windows 11 (custom built PC I made this March) with a nvidia card. My intel 13900k processor also had a build in integrated GPU but I disabled it to avoid any conflicts with my programs so only my Nvidia GPU woud be seen.

I think you will need to do the same thing and disable the intel integrated GPU so only the nvidia card is seen. Go to your device manager and under 'display adapter' right click on the UHD intel graphics GPU and disable it.

For example in my device manager it looks like this, you can see I have disabled the integrated GPU and only my Nvidia card is active:

So I disabled the intel graphics like you said and when I ran the configuration it still doesn't see the RTX 4070. Instead it just registers as a generic video driver
I did copy the DX8.dll whatever that is supposed to make the game run DX9 from Dr. Noise's tutorial. But I read that the newer APIs can't run the older DX versions natively and you need to have DirectX 12 run an emulation for DX9 but no idea how to set this all up.
I feel really stupid trying to get this to work. I was stuck on my old computer for so long and I didn't keep up with tech.

Did device manager display your GPU correctly? Also did you update the driver on your GPU? If its registering as a generic video driver you may not have nvidia graphics drives yet.

I have always had the DX8.dll and no issues. Every time I get a new driver update for my GPU NR2003 detects the change and then I make the changes in the render dxg ini file NR2003 and everything works as expected.

Device manager shows the Nvidia 4070 no problem. I checked for driver updates and it's up to date. It's only the graphics configuration app in the Nr2003 game that has the issue. When you pull it up and set to DirectX rendering the only option is the onboard Iris X whatever. Or to switch to open GL which doesn't work well.
When I went to device manager and disabled the Iris GPU in an attempt to force the system to use just the Nvidia GPU then the game's configuration just reads as a generic driver.

Okay I think I got it!
I downloaded and installed a new Direct X end user package. Then I rebooted a couple of times. Somehow the rebooting 2 or 3 times fixed it. NOW the config.exe actually shows the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 card and I'm running a race now with most of the details turned on and getting 130 to 140 frames on the Cup22 mod.
SO, I think it's working now.
Next question is do I have to re-install the 4gb patch after this? And I will have to re-do all the texture set size and other such tweaks again now this has been fixed?

You don't have re-install the 4gb patch if you did it the first time. Glad you got it working.

Thank you!
So no 4gb patch but I do need to re-do the other stuff. like the anistropic level and the texture set size and such. I noticed everything was super blurry so I will be going over that.

Thank you to NCR3665, Rollo75, and Mystical for all the help. I appreciate it more than you know.

I think running the config reset some of the variables.
They were set before and while I was testing with open GL because of not having direct X working and the cars looked fantastic even though the framerate was garbage. SO when I get off work I will go through the tutorial again and re-set the numbers.

EDIT: YEP the player ini and a couple of other settings were changed. I went back through and fixed those. Everything looks fantastic now
