Don't ask me why there is no English media coverage of that story anywhere, not even within the Montreal English language media, so please forgive me for posting articles in French.
Also, I know that politically, Canada may not be the most united country around (and this is not the place for discussing politics) but I think we can all agree that Lessard's Talent should make every Canadian proud.
I also understand that from a marketing standpoint, guys like Carpentier, Villeneuve and Lessard are harder to "sell" to the media, but this 19-year-old is very marketable off the track (He says the right things, he's got a great smile, and is very active on Social Media).
Of course the sponsorship appeal of an out-of-country talent creates quite the conundrum. Local sponsors don't know him enough and know that his fan base is mostly out of country, and in foreign language territory ( I said MAINLY). And for his local support, it's an expensive proposition if you don't see an immediate return (You can't even fly your clients and staff to races).
I have a feeling that this may have played a role in the KBM Lessard-JHN driver swap.
In all the media coverage, Lessard is very diplomatic and shows gratitude to all his past partners that got him there.
But one article mentioned something about some fallout between Lessard's camp and an investor group.
I think it was referring to a group of private investors, not sponsors, but I thought that between Canac (local hardware retailer) and Richelieu (North American Manufacturer and Distributor of hardware (fasteners, cabinetry, etc.) products) I thought they had secured financing for the full season. But now, no one is saying who jumped ship, or what lead to this new situation.
Does anyone have any information about this situation or rumour??
