this is a huge bug to fix...

on ground shadows, and in many cases the SF line, flicker like crazy as you approach them. (all default tracks)

the reason?
none of them are set to mipmap! (all set to 0)

that's a lot of shadow fixing to do :'( (in the hundreds!)
yup i know ~ just turn them off

example: homestead ~ palm tree shadows on backstretch.

this is fixable,
is there any interest in me bothering to fix all this?

i made a quick patch for default Homestead, it works perfectly.
16 files for Homestead.

to test Homestead in Testing mode:
pay attention to the fence and palm shadows. see all that flickering? now try the patch and see how clean it gets. (unpack the trackmat folder into your homestead folder)

please post back your results.

thank you again ~ you just saved me from alot of wasted time.

However... I have been playing with it quite a bit this morning on my tracks. If I take an asphalt pavement mip, let's say from my Jennerstown and change the Sub-lm to 0 and then increase the priority to about 10, it takes the blur completely out of the white paint lines in the center of the asphalt. If I leave the Sub-lm there at 10 with a priority 4 (its default) the blur continues. So I guess there are a few ways that it does clear up some mip values. But I didn't see anything playing with shadows.

yes, ive noticed pretty much the same thing with certain mip/priority settings on any transparent files. setting the priority too high can even cause slowdowns. lowering it can blur and decrease brightness. definately a sweet spot to be found there.

on my end,
i still see the shadow flickering about 12 car lengths ahead, and it moves with me, right at the mipmap point, which is why im looking at the mipmapping.

flipped all vid-driver settings ~ no change. so its not drivers.

i think the big give away here is that its not every shadow, only the palms. (at homestead) so it cant be a global issue, its gotta be local.

ill keep working on it. thanks again :)
