DMR Concept and Ground Pounder Designs Presents The
Modifieds 2023 mod for NASCAR Racing Season 2003.
The Mod Development Team (in alphabetical order):
• Ben Althen (GPD) - Technical consultant, reference material, templates, beta testing, WMT, SMART and historical modified car paints.
• Bill Anderson (DMRC) - Templates and textures, pace car textures, general design consultation, beta testing and NASCAR Retro car paints.
• Mike Ehresman (GPD) - WMT, SMART and historical modified car paints, template textures.
• J.R. Franklin (GPD) - Mod team coordinator, general consultation, quality control and beta testing.
• Denis Rioux (DMRC) - Chief mod creator, 3d modeling of the 4 bodies, quality control and beta testing.
This exciting new mod features the following:
• 4 all new accurate models created by Denis Rioux of DMR Concept representing the 4 bodies most commonly run by Asphalt Tour-Type Modified racing teams in 2023.
• Bodies included are: the Troyer, LFR, LFR with the Lexan A-pillar and the Cavalier.
• Top 20 cars and drivers of the 2023 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (WMT).
• Top 20 cars and drivers of the 2023 Southern Modified Auto Racing Teams (SMART) Tour.
• 24 iconic retro paint schemes of popular NASCAR drivers and their cars.
• The Pace Car used in this mod is a highly edited version of the default Papyrus Pace Car by Denis Rioux and Bill Anderson.
• 2048 resolution templates.
• Optimized Frame Rates.
Background:
This updated mod of current day Asphalt Tour-Type Modifieds began over a year ago as a collaboration between DMR Concept and Ground Pounder Designs. Denis Rioux's body of work as one of NR2003's most prolific and talented mod creators is legendary as the producer of some of NR2003's most beloved mods. His long-time creative partner at DMR Concept, Bill Anderson, has been renown in the NR2003 sim community for more than 20 years as one of the best and most skilled texture and template creators.
The Ground Pounder Designs team of Ben Althen, Mike Ehresman and J.R. Franklin have devoted themselves to the promotion of Modified racing for NR2003 with Modified car sets and the recreation of short tracks through Project: Short Track over the past 10 years and beyond. The creation of this new mod reflecting the bodies of the current day Asphalt Tour-Type Modifieds is a project that GPD has been trying to bring to the NR2003 platform for years. GPD finally found the best partner to bring this "dream" to reality in Denis Rioux and Bill Anderson of DMR Concept.
We all hope that this mod will bring hours of fun and enjoyment to all NR2003 fans of Modified Racing for many years to come.
Important Notes:
• Import all paint schemes in NR2003 with COMPRESSION ON to insure the most optimal frame rates.
• Troyer body imports on the Chevrolet.
• LFR body imports on the Dodge.
• LFR with Lexan A Pillar body imports on the Ford.
• Cavalier body imports on the Pontiac.
• Special thanks to Ian Smythe of Smiffsden for hosting our mod development forum. Ian began working on this mod with GPD in 2016, but due to higher real-life priorities had to discontinue work on it. We all appreciate his support throughout the project and his initial work on the Troyer model.

The Pace Car used in this mod is the default Papyrus Pace Car with an edited body by Denis. The wheel openings were smoothed out, the light bar was moved to the center of the roof, and the spoiler was removed.

Had to change enable_ShadowVolumes=0 in the Player.ini to remove the black shadow lines on the track.

While this is not the mod I was hoping for, I can't help but feeling blown away by this effort by this amazing team. What gets me more pumped up more than anything else is that people are still making mods of such incredible quality and continuing to extend the life and interest in our sim. Thanks to all of you for the incredible work!

Such a nice surprise to see this! @Rioux is so dedicated to accuracy and detail in His mods and it's been that way since day one. All DMR mods set the bar above the rest. This is an example of a team of People that are very highly skilled. @BillA1947 and @J.R. Franklin @Ben Althen and @Mike Ehresman. This crew are great Guys with passion for this Sim that shows in everything they do. Thank You all so much!
