Many years ago, I started a long journey to recreate the NASCAR Peak Mexico Series from 2015. Actually, I started in 2015. :coldsweat: I've been around much, much longer than that, though my skills have not increased alongside the time I've spent arguing and getting myself into trouble on various sites (like perma-banned on SRD. Twice.)

Now, through a total of eight years, four moves, two countries, at least three different laptops and however many sites disappeared, and eventually finding my way back to NR2K3, I can say that the set isn't complete. :coldsweat: I do, however, believe I have access to everything I had and everything I need to complete the set. And according to a post I made in my Facebook group --where I've got 6 members :nerd:-- back in 2017, I should have only four cars left to paint. Supposing this is true, and I actually don't know for sure, I should be able to get this set complete in terms of paint, in fairly short order.

I used to have a partner who did the pit stalls. I'll have to try to reconnect with him.

I have attached one of the last files I'd completed before ditching the project in late 2017; a render from The Mod Squad render resource.Rodrigo Peralta B.png

Little update:

I found my files and have discovered that I've actually completed the paints for all but one alternate, and that particular alternate would take many hours to get to look good and it's only got a single logo that is different from the other schemes, so I'm leaving things as is. That means, paints are actually complete! I have 36 primary paints (one car has two different drivers, so 35 max in a race) and 22 alternate schemes!

Even better, having found my set, I've added 1 historical and 1 fictional to the previous 2 fictional paints provided by members of the community 7 years ago. The historical version is Scott Riggs, who raced the final race of the 2010 season after the primary driver was suspended for aggressive driving. I haven't been able to find great pictures of some of the small details, sadly, so it's missing one logo in a few places.

Before I get any further, the template is a modified Gen6-15, either using the FORD or the TOYOTA template as a base. During the era, the series had recently been called the NASCAR Toyota series, and the vast majority of the cars during the 2015 series were Toyota models even if they had the chevron on the front. I know this might aggravate a lot of sticklers, and especially since I don't even know if I put any Dodges on the Dodge template or used the Toyota template, or if the series mix and matched like that. Either way, I used a lot of Google-Fu for the primary images, which for the most part, I had to trace from very poor quality images. Not so much for the larger brands, of course, but it gets tricky the lower down the grid you get. Furthermore, while there is every possibility I used one or two numbers (not sets, individual digits) from somewhere, I am confident that nearly all the numbers were ... traced... by me, from screencaps of the series available on Youtube in the way back when. Outside of the general Gen6-BR mod & template credits, the only credits (that I can remember) would go to "The Huntsman" for pit stalls, and the two individuals who provided fictional cars -- one of them being John Norton, and the other being "The Huntsman". At present, the one other fictional (maybe two, if I feel like it) are by me.

You'll also notice a lot of words cut off or a lot of logos that just don't look quite right. Well, in 2015, the NASCAR Mexico Series still wasn't quite right.

While I work on the remaining historical paints (Daniel Suarez, Carlos Pardo and Estefanie Reyes), here are the original images I uploaded to announce the set many years ago on SRD!

I've decided to add one more paint to the historical list, leaving it with 5 in total: Scott Riggs, Daniel Suarez, Carlos Pardo, Mara Reyes and Estefania Reyes. As far as I know, Estefania Reyes has two schemes and I might try to paint both of them, but I have very limited imagery to work with, so they won't be anywhere near as complete as the primary set. The same can be said for Mara Reyes, as I can't actually find any information on her Mexico series scheme(s) at all. All I can find is her car for when she drove in the old NASCAR West series (the reason for her inclusion). Daniel Suarez and Carlos Pardo will be much more complete, as they each have a great deal of pictures for their individual reasons.

I've also decided to go ahead and add a few more fictionals. Fred Jones is going to make an appearance in a Papyrus sponsored car with the Mexican flag, rather than the American flag, which will take the most work of any fictional car I think I've ever done! I'll also be adding a Modelo scheme and a Sabritas theme as I'd discussed with some personal friends back in 2015/2016 when work began on this project. I might also toss in a special scheme sponsored by La Molienda.

As for the primary schemes, as I've said they are all complete with the exception of one, and I didn't want to put in the multiples of hours of effort to attempt getting it right. Well, I'm going to see just how hard it will be. It's literally just a single logo, but it's at the right/wrong part of the template that makes things weird. I'll give it a shot for completion's sake.

Today is my day off and I do, in fact, plan to use a hefty chunk of my day working on this project. My goal is to complete the Carlos Pardo scheme I've chosen to paint, and it's fairly simple. I might give the Mara Reyes West series scheme a shot, too, since that one looks quite simple, as well. If I can get the hexagons figured out for Suarez's car in short order, I might also have that complete, as well as one --maybe two-- of the fictionals. Oh! And I'll be doing some stat work, as well. I think I have the track ratings down, but I need to work on the other ratings.

In the mean time, here are some more renders!

Update for the day's work: did not accomplish much. I did, however, complete what will be perfectly acceptable ratings. They aren't perfect, by any means, but they are good enough that I'll probably leave them the way they are. That took about 2 hours!

After that, I did spruce up a fictional and the alt for that fictional.

Finally, put a lot of work into Carlos Pardo's #21. There is one logo I can't figure out--the tank--but I did put in a filler. I may go back and hand draw it unless someone knows about ABATE. I also had to do a little adjusting for the different year. Aside from that, I need to put the logos on the pillar & get the number on it and Carlos Pardo's car will be complete.

But I'm done for the day as I have a 2 hour language class in 40 minutes and I need to eat, first.

Tomorrow is a work day, so chances of too much are quite little. There is every possibility I'll finish Carlos Pardo's car, and I may even try to get the ABATE tank to look proper.

While we wait?!

These are looking good!
Thanks! It's a culmination of more than 7 years of work

I did get back to Pardo's #21 & was able to complete it... sans the correct tank logo. I tried to use The Mod Squad resource for making a new render, but I guess that's been down for awhile. Ah well... some more of the schemes completed circa '16 & '17 while I work on the remaining historical. I also completed one fictional, today.

I have now completed all but two of my planned drivers.

Primary cars: 36 (inc. one car with two drivers, so 35 drivers)
Alternate schemes: ALL 22 alternates from the 2015 season. I'm so glad I was so meticulous back in 15-17 to ensure I had all the photos and watched every race!
Historical drivers: 4 historical drivers from a variety of years for a variety of reasons
* Scott Riggs ("highest profile" NASCAR driver from the states to make his way down to the series for a one-off)
* Carlos Pardo (for reasons. If you don't know, you probably don't want to know. In fact, you probably don't want to know even if you do.)
* Daniel Suarez (Should be obvious)
* Mara Reyes ("First Mexican woman to race in NASCAR" -- from her bio)

Fictional drivers: Presently I have 5 fictional drivers, two of which have alternate schemes (small variance)!

The remaining two planned drivers are one additional historical--Estefania Reyes--and one additional fictional, whom I am presently calling Kiko Gonzales and should I be able to create a nice scheme, will be my universe's version of Fred Jones! Well, one of them, anyway, as I have

The big issue is that these two schemes will be quite difficult for me, since I don't actually have many images of Estefania's scheme and I have an even smaller number of angles. I could pick the easy scheme but naaaah! On the other hand, Kiko's scheme will be difficult for me since I am trying to emulate some of Mr. Jones' schemes but with the Mexican flag rather than the American flag being the major factor.

Supposing I complete both Gonzeles and Reyes (Estefania), that'll bring the combined total driver count up to ... *does some math* 47? I think that's the right amount for a Cynon track! And ending on a scheme where I'm actually learning new techniques would be a fantastic close to this nearly 8 year combined effort.

-- I know, I know. I should probably have Carlos Contreras in here, but he didn't make my original list so I'm probably not going to add him. On a positive note, if I do venture into another Mexico series carset, he'll be my first "historical" driver to add.

You’ve really made progress. I’m glad the fires were lit again on your project, and your Kiko idea was inspiring to me! If you complete Kiko’s scheme to your liking you should update here with a render. Your description of his scheme had me thinking of the possibilities!

Sadly it'll probably take too much distraction time to get new renders made. :( All the renders I've posted are from 2017... I do have a completed scheme, though. Keep in mind, I don't really do that great when I'm coming up with my own stuff, so I basically just threw a Mexican flag over it as a wrap. Not super clever, but I did make it look like it's waving in the wind as it drives by.

I'm gonna play around with it a little more. The ratings are donezo. They aren't perfect, and there's one driver I might nerf a bit, but otherwise I'm probably gonna toss the cars into one of the Mexican tracks and take some screens, make a readme and get it uploaded. Hopefully this week. :)

I'm.... not sure why it's so tiny, but this is about where I am for a Kiko scheme. I'm going to redo it so the whole car looks waving rather than just the sides. I think that'll look a bit cooler. I'm going to have to also adjust where the crest is on the door as I think it's presently too low. On the rear, I have a Hello Kitty holding a Mexican flag saying "Viva Mexico", but with the upside down exclamations & everything. There are some funky goings on in this image but that's because I imported it on the wrong body style, but this is just to show you where I'm at with it. Gonna take a bit of work to make it look clean, I think, and I may even remove the crest as I'm not sure what the rules are for using the imagery. I know the American flag has tons of unwritten rules that Texan girls in bikinis always forget, conveniently. ;)

I may have convinced myself to not let this be the last project. I'll finish up my car set, here, using the above (but slightly modified) version of Kiko. I'll get the readme handled & get screenies capped, as well. That'll be the last post in this thread since I think I posted in the wrong place to begin with :coldsweat:

There's a 2017 (or 2018) NMS set somewhere & I'll see if I can't get permission from the creator to upload it here. 2016 is a no-go but I'll see if I can't find some information. I've already started preparing for 2022. Each year will come with an updated Kiko as I learn new techniques & try to get more creative. No guarantees on how long those will take, but rest assured the 2015 set will be released --once again-- hopefully by the end of the week!

I want to make clear that this is not a prettied up version of the game that I'm running, but for people who know how to improve their visuals then the cars look like they do above rather than below lol

Will be available for download very soon since all I have left is readme and making sure all the alts have the ratings.

FULL ROSTER of EVERY driver for the 2015 season and ALL alternate schemes, as well as FICTIONAL and HISTORICAL drivers. I will also include lists for the primary schemes, the primary + historical, the primary + fictional, and one list that includes the primary, fictional and historical. I'll probably even create a list with ALL the cars so the ratings can decide themselves which scheme is run (even though each driver scheme will have the same ratings!

If you plan on hosting the download here in the downloads section, I'd be willing to shoot some screenshots for it. Great job on the set! I have painted a lot of ARCA stuff which is hard to find resources for, I can only imagine what painting these were like. Feel free to send a message :)

Well! I have found 6 drivers who need the roof numbers flipped, so that'll put me back but not really too much. More importantly, I have found some old footage of the 2015 races and I may be able to piece together which alternate schemes go to which tracks and build some lists off that. Unfortunately, there are only two tracks from the 2015 season that we can use in the game and those are Phoenix and a very beta version of Aguascalientes which I haven't been able to get to function, yet.

On the plus side, I've got a readme done and it looks like we're gonna get some pretty, pretty pictures for the download! :coldsweat:
