I know I personally can't use modded .exes, since NR2003 at base level is hard enough to run past Windows 7, since I refuse to disable DEP since I have the Windows 7+ No CD patch.

It all works great with Windows 7 , its 10 that messes up with your DEP. If you have 7 , there shouldn't be any problems. But even if you got 10 , the NOCD from HOBO racing works great I heard. And if you mod a new EXE using HOBO NO CD , should work all over the place. But the previous "non HOBO" NOCD's gave people crap.

I used to make my edits like that , and since I run Windows 7 I never thought there could be an issue. But from now on , I switched to HOBO NOCD and no problemos.

Yes, the exe from Hobo works great with the base sim, but not the GTP exe or any other altered exe.

Oh you are talking about GTP or something like Drag Racing mod for NR2003 , the once where the whole structure of the game has been changed. Like GTP precisely. I am talking about using the actual modded EXE on top of stock game. That is how physics editing is done nowadays. You just double click "altered" HOBO NOCD to start the game. As far as GTP and Prostock , those are the only 2 mods I know of that "re-do" the whole game structure. I can see how NOCD from HOBO won't work with them. But GTP is already 4 modded PTA physics, what is there to add to GTP?
I am talking about "altering" the HOBO NOCD itself. Works perfectly with everything.

I'm aware. I'm the one who made the link to the Hobo Racing No CD patch over in the Tech section.

aside from the drag mod and the gtp v1 there were other modded exe's. namely OWR05 which later came out with pta physics. I remember blackhole had some great mods for the game that have been lost to the ages unfortunately. There was going to be a gtp2 and someone was building a motorbike mod as well as an offshore boat mod that was essentially a new game built on the 2k3 platform. but it never got out of extremely early alpha and probably less than 20 people ever downloaded it

A Legends mod is possible for NR2003. You say the mod is too small? Yes. But, just make it the same size as a 2003 stock car, and edit the physics and make it 20% smaller. There! Also, make a Go-Kart mod regular size, then edit physics and make it smaller. New World done it. He made your 2017 stock car 20% smaller. Heck, it's possible to make a NASCAR diecast mod. Make it 1/24th the size of the regular stock car. Make the fuel tank smaller, and you can race a mod that is the size of a white dash line. Disclaimer, you will see pixels. And this is when the 4096 and 8192 textures are useful.

also, if memory serves me right, someone had figured out how to expand the number of car models for the game. they were building a true f1 mod but it too got shut down by the legal issues

Those 20 people must be here and alive. We need them. Any mod is possible. Now, I just want a new mod maker named Apple, so we can make a mod, but we will remove the wheels. So, a mod without wheels. Very revolutionary.

as for mods i'd love to see, a true dash series mod, the stinker cup mod ported in, a daytona prototype with the riley dp and corvette dp, and i'd love to see Smiff'sden finish the legends car mod they teased a few years ago

Lol. Now it's been a long time for the scary side of NR2003. I hope that someone, did not modify the exe. So, it would be legal to do that. Would it be nice to have all the mods in one instance?

an alternate route for gokarts would be to make them oversized, yes but then just scale up some real life gokart tracks to match
that would be the simplest in the short term. But now with the ability to mod anything we can even modify the sizing of the collision box so that cars could be true to scale

Have you ever noticed the cars in NR2003 have parts of them that go through things? That needs to be changed.
Now, the real question is,
how to make the graphics better? I want NASCAR 15 graphics! :p

last time i saw anyone increase model options was by using a trainer software running in conjunction with 2k3 and it was glitchy and affected framerate. But that was maybe 5 years ago and was a temporary solution after all the legal crap. Again, people were really really creative with the game in the early days.

I wish i had studied coding more after high school. I'd love to dive into the exe and see what I could do but alas I'm not capable. I'd also love to see someone develop a new version of NRStretch

What do you mean by model options? And NRStretch, what is that?

model options as in having 5 manufacturers instead of just 4.
NRStretch was a software developed for the default bodies, and project wildfire's GNS and CTS mods where you could load up an image and it would break it up on the template for you so that it would line up seamlessly. It was great for complex patterns
