Ive recently gotten a new computer and to my surprise, it runs NR2003 alot slower than my old one did. Im getting 10 FPS with default everything, and I think it relates to having a newer generation CPU.
I believe it has something to do with the "d3d9on12.dll" driver, and that new tech cant replicate old tech.
Ive got an Intel i5 12600k, 32GB DDR4 ram, and an MSI Z690 running at 1080p
Any help is greatly appreciated, if you had a similar issue and resolved it, please help me out. Ask me any questions regarding my computer specs or settings

Nr2003 runs fine on new computers, if that dll is added to Nr2003 then remove it and then try it.

I resolved my issue, I used a wrapper called dgVoodoo which reeeaally helped my game run 60+FPS with most mods
You should probably be up around 140 fps, it would be worth a try to remove the dll and some other extras that you are using. You can always add it back if there is no difference in fps.

I’ve got an AMD ryzen 5 3600, Radeon 6600 xt. New SSD 2TB hard drive.

Without the d3d8 I get between 35-55 FPS in the FCRD mod unless I turn down the graphics (no mirror is a big one).

The d3d8 boosts the FPS but causes anti aliasing issues. Blurred lines, track walls dance lol.

I have the 4 GB patch.

I think I’ve concluded that NR2003 just simply doesn’t play well with certain builds…

its strange, with SnG03, I get up to 55FPS usually, but it goes all the way down to like 20 when inside the car. but thats as low as it gets, no matter the circumstances

* I will be putting both a new M.2 SSD as well as a Radeon 6650 XT into my new computer, but it worries me that that card may also bring troubles to old games I have like NR games

do you find your 6600xt to run NR decently?

Honestly, It runs decent, however it’s very hit and miss with which settings to use. So for example I had been using supersampling with my R9 280X. With the 6600xt, supersampling created a ton of blurry lines in the stands, bottom of pit walls and track walls, or font on the back of cars for me. Could be the newer drivers though? I get better results with multi-sampling, so the game can’t seem to take advantage of the newer cards capabilities. In my opinion anyway.

When I upgraded the CPU a few years ago, that’s when I really noticed the jump in performance with NR2003. I went from an FX to the Ryzen and boom performance sky rocketed for me. The video card upgrade not so much.

That being said, it’s a happy medium for me because I run F1, I had AC installed and that is running smooth etc.

Alright, I think I discovered something for a boost in FPS. Whenever I used the d3d8.dll I would get massive issues with the anti-Aliasing. Blurred walls almost to the point they are shaking. I started searching beyond the nr2003 world and discovered the following.

1, Download DxWrapper.zip from https://github.com/elishacloud/dxwrapper/releases
2. Place the files dxwrapper.dll, dxwrapper (configuration file like a .ini,) and d3d8.dll inside Nr2003 main directory.
3. Open up the dxwrapper configuration file and under [Compatibility] change D3d8to9 from =0 to =1
4. Under [d3d9] change AnistropicFiltering from =0 to =1 and AntiAliasing from =0 to =1.
5. Right click your NR.2003.exe, under the compatibility check disable fullscreen optimizations.

This has been a huge game changer for me. I've gotten a 35 fps + boost without giving up any quality. I am sure there is more that we can toy with in the dxwrapper configuration file. Hopefully it can help someone else. I am actually super pumped about it!

*while I was using my integrated graphics, I was using a similar approach. I downloaded DgVoodoo2 and my I5 12600k went up from 10 fps to about 60+.

thank you for the help. it will definitely help other people with this problem, however, the new graphics card runs the game at 144 fps solid almost everywhere.

That’s awesome I am happy to hear your card is working out for you!
