I normally don't post often but can someone tell me how to get rid of the glassy or highly gloss look on the cars. I'm racing with the SNG '03 mod and the glassy look is bothering me. I know some cars have a dull or matte look to them. Cars that are black appears grey with the glassy, shiny look. Is there a MIP file or something that needs to be removed? Thank you.

Open the Player.ini or if you created a Player in the Players folder. Under [Graphic Options] change enable_CarMegaShader=1 to 0 and enable_ShadowVolumes=1 to 0. Before doing so make a backup first. See if that helps.

Can edit the shiny.mip of whatever mod you want to edit. The darker the body of the car in the shiny.mip the less reflective it will be.

If you're not versed in editing MIPs let me know, you can send me the file and I'll make the edit to reduce the reflectivity.

Thank you for your response and willingness to help. Reducing the number 1 to 0 in the players folder helped.

One thing I wanted to add; this is also dependent on what the environment maps on the track look like, or how intense they are. Golden State Motorsports Park's are softer than the default (which annoyingly look like they're meant for night races or showrooms, even on day tracks) but there's also some out there that make the cars look like they're coated in wax paper.

That kind of help right there is what makes this such a great group.

Another way to edit shine:

Some tracks have different shine than others. Pick a track that has a shine that you like. Open and extract that track's .dat file with WimMip2. One of the extracted files will say c_environ.mip and s_environ.mip. You can copy these files and throw them in any track folder. Then those tracks will have the same shinyness as the one you took those files from.
