Racing games have been my favourite gaming genre since I was a kid playing Road Rash on Sega Genesis. I haven't done much in the way of gaming in the last few years in favour of other hobbies and interests but I feel like getting back into it again. I've dusted off the old Logitech G27 and have been playing around in BeamNG, rFactor 2, Project Cars, and started just this past weekend on Nascar Racing 2003. It was incredibly satisfying to race in a game that doesn't have braindead on rails AI. I actually felt like I was in a proper race against opponents. It was the complete opposite to rFactors AI cars that might as well have been modeled as trains for all the ground they're willing to give.
Seeing that NR2003 has some impressive mod support is a big bonus as well since I like to tinker with my games and mod them to my liking. Hopefully I'll make some stuff that people in the community will enjoy.
It's also nice to see a fairly active message board. It's been a bit sad seeing most online discussion shift towards data mining social media sites. I never cared for those platforms and haven't participated in online discussions much as a result.
