I had Indy 500, NR1 floppy version, NR1 CD version (had the DOS paintshop), NR1 Track Pack, NR2, NR3, NR4, NR2k2 and NR2k3. Never had Legends or 1999 edition in the UK.
I know part of it is the whole "forbidden fruit / sport that doesn't exist where you live - but I still find it a bit amusing that you're in the UK. I keep thinking - man, if I lived in the UK do you know how much M-Sport WRC merchandise I would own? And a Fiesta ST200 to go with it? Rally Racing 4 Life! Lol.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on any Toyota backed Gazoo Racing product, lol
Well, GR stuff is new school. TTE stuff that is old school for rally was Castrol Racing. Was sent a team only Castrol shirt when younger (15+) and wore that to ALOT of racing events..... got asked about it often. Still got it.

I visited Germany in '97 and had a TTE factory tour. I saw the WRC Corolla's being prepared for Finland. Was driven around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Before I really knew about the history of the track.... and then came GPL (Grand Prix Legends) in '98. OMG what a Sim by Papyrus.

I got told Toyota was going back to Le Mans for '98 before the press. I got told Toyota was going to F1 before the press.

I was at Le Mans in '99 to see them race, great experience.

Wow cool, nice reminiscing guys!

Yeah going to date myself here too LOL. I do have a bit of Lead-In to how I got to NR2003.

Yeah I got my first itch for racing games with Pole Position and Outrun at our Arcade/Bowling alley. I am like cool now that has evolved from Pong and Battlezone quite a bit! But still pretty crude to me, I said man give it another five years I wonder what they can do? There was another later called something like California Vette, I think that one had a sit in situation, a basic cockpit, at our arcade.

-Anyway moving on
I think I had Windows 95(I had been doing more adventure/thinking games then) and had gotten My first Papy game, The first in the NASCAR series, then Indycar Racing II, Both so great for the time and much the beginning of this all. I liked NASCAR better. :) Could not afford anything else for a bit.

After a bit I took and spliced into the wiring of a joystick I had and hooked up foot switches on the floor for gas and brake LOL. my thumb before would get so tired it cramped and could hardly move ha. I had the joystick for old Falcon DOS game I think LOL.

In between this and NR2003 - MCO(Motor City Online) came out. I had a better job at the time and saw this MCO racing game at CompUSA and it looked way cool, got it.

THIS is the point where I got hooked into online racing...
-
Move on, I had since gotten a Wheel.. Now my memory is fuzzy on which came first(and I had no Chicken or Egg). I had gotten at different times a Thrustmaster Pro Digital II and a Logitech Wingman Wheel. Still old gameport connectors I believe. (One broke, had warranty, put it toward a better one, did that till I made it to a MOMO over years, CompUSA shut down sometime later).

Another trip to CompUSA, I see a new Papy game NASCAR Racing 2003. Wow that looks refined! was hard to afford but had to have it and glad I did get it..
I was amazed! And so it started!
Was in an online group that did MCO and we moved to NR2003 eventually most of us to keep running together. Had a league, raced against others.

By 2004? I did finally paint a car for the AeroWar mod, the green car to lower left on my Sixty Blitzed sites front page.
Had quite some fun times with the group( the site they had was called Gonegaming at some time). racing between leagues, Sierra servers were in full bloom and stocked with races to do.

Now those were good old companies, good old times... Sierra and Papyrus, they cared about making and keeping a customer happy, Sierra held its servers open to race on till the very bitter end when you then saw that it had been acquired by Activision and the servers were shut down.

Been searching for the same kind of fix since and had not really found it, till coming back here after all the years(I had not messed with NR2003 for over ten years, maybe fired it up a few times over the span, usually always copied what I had over to next PC).
racing with the Zoom guys and hanging here is close to what I felt back then. Thank You very much Guys for all yas being so great and the hospitality and all.

Sorry if my writing is a bit chopped up, my ADHD throws things at me from all directions and times LOL.

But yeah, this and You guys is/am/are great here. :) I somehow lost track of this place waaaay back till I got searching again recently after finding my trackmaking stuff n all.

best to you all. happy reminiscing and keep em rolling! Let's Go Racing!
Peace!

Awesome that you had connections like that in the racing world.
The racing world goes full circle... or oval, lap?

My Wife is American, has family in NASCAR Media. Her cousin Matt Cogan we lost in '17 was a cameraman.

Back in the day, I worked for a race team in '03 & '04. **

Stories to tell...

** UK team

No.
N1, N2, N3, NLegends, NR2003

Accolade F1, Microprose Grand Prix, GP Legends.

I've tried to recapture some of that magic, but I struggle to bring myself to create simple/poorly done schemes for the hell of it. Also I'm much worse at creating fictional cars/rosters than I was back then, as I am stuck in a mindset of "this is how it should be."

If you run through the building and out the other side, then fictionals aren't a problem and reality itself ceases to matter. What you end up doing is worldbuilding. In that respect, someone like Jacobc62 or Cynon have ended up in interesting places.

Heyas, get your NR2003 going and come reminisce on my track and server to help me test my site and all. Please.. :)
Running Gen62015 but I can put it on good old Cup if you want to go more old time. :0) My track I started during the heyday back then but could not get it finished till recently.
Come in. Maybe get a fun group together to re-kindle and reminisce.
Want to do a run sometime soon, next few days etc. who can we stir up? :)

Sorry to bend the thread a tad but hey, I have been trying to find a way to gather many good old NR2003 people together at one track for a start.
Come in and hang on the track please. at: Route Sixty Blitzed! select registration on lower right, do the Send code to your email thing and enter the code as you register.
Click on Login in lower right when ready to get the IP and download the track etc..

I'd love to actually get into multi-player races - but I need to not be using my keyboard num pad for driving first, lol.

Does anyone run a league based on Cup90 or Cup98? Speaking of nostalgia....
