Sooooooo.......got the new NCS22, and the cockpit is to say the least....a little lacking in effort. Especially compared to The Bullring's, SRD's and even the "unfinished" CWS15 mods.
I mean you can't even read the gauges.....why? The game was built off of and for realism, I just don't get it, because the rest of the mod is pretty darn good.

Just an opinion piece, like to hear yours.

I despise the 'shifting/motion' effect the cockpit in NR2003 has (simulating head motion with acceleration/braking conditions). It's motion-sickness inducing and, beyond that, annoying. To me, having been under similar situations, it's not really a solid visual representation anyway. So I run roof cam, using external gauges.

Don't know about the simulating head motion thing...Mine doesn't do that..I know there use to be an add on you could put in the game that made it do that a long time ago (tried it didn't like it)......but I haven't seen that around for a while.
I'm not trying to beat anyone up.....just looking to see what opinions are out there. I just try to go the "mostly" realistic route, and it's what I'm use to. I know others are use to different views.

It's a thing in the vanilla game, no mods.

The interior as far as I can tell, is a good approximation of the real world interior, within NR2003 constraints. Play with your FOV settings, or just take it in stride. Pretty sure NASCAR hasn't really focused on the interior too much, they barely had time to nail down the aero package as is.

I exclusively race in Far Chase in pretty much everything except the F1 games (where I run the centered T-Cam). Since I don't have the "hardcore" setup for sim racing (and even then, I'd still probably be more on the casual side of things), and therefore wouldn't have as great a point of reference for objects around me as I would in a real car on the road, I'd rather know what's around me, how close they are, and if contact is about to be made so I can avoid unnecessary contact if possible.

Knowing the reference photos that are out there, I would say he did pretty darn good job with replicating it. Maybe you should go check out iRacing and you will see the exact same thing with those gauges. You can express your opinion, but saying he lacked effort with it makes you sound stupid. So here's a opinion, don't use it, or wait til the mid season update when they actually start showing more of the cars interior. The other mods you listed they had way more photos back then. This car has been a unknown from the get go.

No.
I only use cockpit mode except if I need to cheat and use a front bumper view because of front end damage.

Not that I'm that worried about it being a sim; it's just that any other view, since Accolade GP came out in 1988, is wrong.

Roof cam for me. I do my races like the onboard camera recordings. Then during pace laps/cautions/end of race I do far chase view. In the middle of the race I might switch to cockpit for a few laps like its the broadcast showing a different view but pretty much roof cam these days for me. I don't care about racing hardcore sim, never did and cockpit view doesn't appeal to me. I like to see the paint scheme of the car(s) I've painted personally. I did make a hyper detailed cockpit for my ICR mod but truth be told I only did it so when I temporarily switch cameras to in-cockpit it looks cool lol

Seems like you should have just said you don't like the way the Next Gen cockpit looks, since ours is based off of the limited reference material we have of it so far. That has nothing to do with the mod seeing as it's as accurate as possible given the circumstances. Amazing how we have a mod out days before the cars actually hit the track for a real race (pretty sure that's a first in NR history) and people still find thing to complain about.

As has been said, you have options: a. don't use the mod, b. realize it is what it is and use it (it's hardly unusable) or c. apply the desired level you see fit into making your own mod. But to disparage the mod and the developers simply because you don't like the way the NG dash looks? Shouldn't have been an option.

I use cockpit view. I've had NR2003 since it came out and always used that view. I've tried other views but can't drive the car for crap any other way but from the cockpit.

Yeah the cockpit view is lacking effort but i use it but there are other things lacking as well like the damage model the engine is somewhat a black box but its still great Ncs22

Again, it's not a matter of effort. The cockpit is as accurate as possible given the limited reference images we have. Same with the damage model. Until yesterday we hadn't yet seen one of these cars actually take damage in a real race. You guys seem to keep forgetting that this mod was released before the cars ever hit the track competitively, which means the assets you're seeing were developed weeks of not months before that. And yet you still complain that things don't seem finished or complete, while also wanting the mod now now now. Unreal. If there's one thing that has not been lacking from the process of making this mod it's been effort, so get your facts straight before you run your mouth.

I mean you cant even tell when a car gets damaged only once the pit crew repairs it and i know it takes time it takes effort it just seems somewhat generic
