Can't install Nr2003

Maybe someone will see this and tell me what I'm doing wrong.
I downloaded all the proper zip files.
Unzipped / installed Nr 2003 game
Then I did the two patches (in the proper order)
Then I tried to put in the NO CD patch and I got a config sys error.
Deleted everything - started over and did it again ---- x's 6 more
Same thing happens every time.
So I still don't have it working.
Any help on what may be going wrong..??

Where did you download the game from, some places that have it up are bad downloads....

I can only suggest that you test between adding things so you can find out where the issue is.
So, install the game, test, make sure it works.
Then add the patch (you said you installed two patches.. 1.2.0.1. and what else? test and make sure it works.
Then add the noCD.exe, test and make sure it works.

If you take those steps, once it's not working, you'll have an idea where the problem is.

Everywhere I have saw said to "not" open the game and try and run it "until" everything was loaded properly.... I thought I got all three patches here - but now I only find the two.. I know I got those from here.

OK. I loaded the game itself.

Then got ALL the patches from here.

loaded the first one (nc2003_update...)

then loaded the 1201.fix.zip

then when I went to load the win7 no-cd file I get a error message saying

"Error Starting Config.exe"

I HAD this running yesterday; but I noticed every time (in the game) when I clicked on the 3d graphics (think it was supposed to go to paint shop) it would CRASH.

I think you misunderstood - I have everything I need except the original CD and you can get that for free. Sounds like you are trying to sell a wheel..??

It's quite simple really, install game, install patch 1201, don't know about the fix patch..what does it fix, I never installed it...then run the game with the original exe, do the config, after everything runs fine, then just change out the exe in the game folder, there's nothing to install with it. Sounds like that is what your trying to do.

They do in fact exist and still the only legal way to own the sim, but we wont get into that, many owners are taking advantage of the up interest in sim racing and selling their disks on E bay for upward of $200 or more.

Nope, it's the disc, which isn't free check out eBay...any wheel you get for 100 bones probably isn't worth it...

well. what you say "may" be true... but if it is; - why do ALL the Nr2003 sites I see (INCluding this one) have the patches to download so the game will work...??

Patches are one thing, entire game is another, game will work just fine without any patches, you just won't be able to switch between mods.....

well yes you are right. I got it working after tinkering all morning with the config settings.... Still don't know exactly what I did different the time it worked than I did all the other times....
So if I had to delete it; I'd be back in the same boat.
