One of my favorite NR2003 tracks ever is Eight Bowl. I love superspeedway racing but it *can* get a little monotonous, and the figure-8 style of that track gives just the right amount of variety, not to mention the track position strategy that comes with the inside line suddenly becoming the outside in the very next turn and then back again.
I do however also love short tracks, specifically high-banked ones like Bristol. The tight confines and the beating and banging to gain position can be a lot of fun. But recently after driving both Eight Bowl and Bristol back to back, I started thinking of how amazing a hybrid of the two would be. An overlapping figure-8 like Eight Bowl but with the size and banking of Bristol. I have literally had dreams about racing on a track like this as a result and would so love to see it realized.
It's entirely possible something like this exists but I have yet to see it, and the only small figure 8s I have seen are the traditional demolition derby style where cars meet in the middle as opposed to one like Eight Bowl where there's an "overpass" where the track meets in the middle. If it does exist in some form and anyone knows about it, do let me know.
If it doesn't exist...I'd be tempted to put up some really money to commission such a track if necessary, although that may have to be in the future when I'd have the funds. But if this idea intrigues anyone else, specifically anyone with the skills and know-how to create tracks (I can do a lot of things for NR2003, but track making is not yet one of them) then they would be my absolute hero in taking on a project like this. I'm a big proponent of creating and spending time on what you personally enjoy, so perhaps someone else in the community agrees with me about how absolutely awesome a track like this would be.
TL;DR, a track like Eight Bowl in the size and banking of Bristol would be awesome and this post simply serves to throw the idea out there to anyone who may want to take that on as their next project.
Cheers!
