It was the last stronghold of a great track and a part of my life that brought me here. I'll be heading over to the old site of RIR in just a little bit today.
Wow really? Cool! Yeah we had many great tracks that have vanished just in California as well as other places. Earnhardt's Lost Speedways, watched part of one of those, cool:
E. Jr's Lost Speedways. Oh Yeah, Tigg posted about that.. Yeah he's got it!
Would like to tour his backyard LOL.
Losing a car in your own Backyard LOL.
My step dad raced Drags in mid to late sixties, he got to know people like Don Prudhomme... Don Garlits... Lou Gasparelli, I remember going with him to Lou's place when real young a few times, remember some late 40's early 50's? coupe in his garage or similar building, roundish and a dark purple... He knew TV Tommy Ivo well also and actually drove his 4-wheel drive 4-engine Buick Roadster in a drag. It would be a cloud of rubber smoke leaving the line LOL. I think possibly on an issue of "Drag Racing Photo Greats" 66-68? My stepdad is on the cover driving the buick, lost the issue in fires back when but the helmet you barely see thru tire smoke has the same custom design painted by my S-Dad in same Silver/Green scheme.(If I remember rightly now, been years)The helmet was in our garage when I was young.
Anyway, veered a little off in another topic direction. There are a couple of cool Versions of RIR for NR2003. It was a really raw track, fun and interesting.
OK, enough ADHD side-tracks, gotta get to things(been back and forth typing this in between other things over the last hour+ LOL.).
Keep Em Rolling!
