Here is Jack Sprague's 1996 Pedigree Pontiac Grand Prix. Ken Schrader fielded this entry for Sprague in the final two races (Phoenix, and Atlanta) with engine support from Rick Hendrick! This version ran at Atlanta, and the white number version ran at Phoenix. Another neat fact is that if rewatch his race footage, his truck series pit crew serves as his cup crew and are in full Quaker State uniforms for these races!

Reminds me of a rumor in early-mid 1998? That HMS had built and tested a Pontiac and was considering running one for Craven.

Also the time in 2000 when HMS laid Ford sheetmetal to try and figure out how they were doing so well.

Oh that would have been interesting to see craven in a Pontiac with Hendrick. Would that have been in 99?

Hendrick Motorsports is building a #50 Budweiser Pontiac for Ricky Craven to test, and if it proves competitive, to race at Atlanta in March 1998. They are also building a Pontiac for Jack Sprague to test, and very likely race, at the Las Vegas race on March 1st. So far, there are no immediate plans to put Terry
Labonte or Jeff Gordon in Pontiacs. To see the rest of the story click on the above link(www.country.com)(1-26-98) – Confirmed on NASCAR Online today(1-28-98)

Talks with Robbie Gordon almost worked out but it appears that Robbie will not be in the #50 car this year. The only race that was still a possibility was the Winston Open and it appears as though Jack Sprague will drive that race for the Bud team. Also don’t be surprised if the car Sprague drives is a Pontiac(see above)(MRN-Marty)(4-30-98)

Hendrick Motorsports will run a #50 Bud Pontiac in the Winston Open, didn’t mention a driver.(RPM2Nite)(4-30-98)

Looks good! I think your brown needs a little adjusting though. Judging by these pictures, #7f5d41 works for the striping and numbers. I believe the number was only shiny at Indy.

Here is Wally Dallenbach's Hayes Modems 1996 Ford Thunderbird that he ran for Bud Moore. He finished 25th in the standings with an average finish of 23.6 with 1 top 5 and 3 top 10's. This scheme ran majority of the season and the Daytona 500 and other versions will be included in the set. TBH, Thunder98 did most of the heavy lifting here, so most of the credit goes to him!

That Hayes car was in my top 5 schemes of 96. The car was White in Daytona as they hadn't signed Hayes until the Duels. Maybe after the duels. So the white Hayes was the 500.
They also ran a couple of different number designs on this car. but the scheme remained largely unchanged all season.

Most of the regular drivers are done, now on to drivers who bounced around before we get to the back markers and secondary/one off schemes. Here is Dick Trickle's Daytona 500 entry for Schnell Motorsports inc. His 1996 Purina Hi Pro Ford Thunderbird finished dead last, saving Jeff Gordon from finishing last after Mayfield turned him out of turn 4 in the 500. Trickle would eventually bounce to the #19 Healthsource Ford, then to Junie Donlavey's #90 Heilig-Meyers Ford Thunderbird from midseason until 1998.
