Player file gone…?

Hi everyone,

Turned on NR2003 today, went to player info and my player file has disappeared…just has the_player now. Went to the player file in the folder, and I am still there, but it won’t come up in game…

Any ideas?

I had that issue when changes were made in the player.ini or roster.lst which corrupted the file.

Possibly the file became corrupted? Open it up and compare to the one that NR can load and compare and look for any odd entries, missing entries, empty values that should be there, or extra characters.
First simply try loading it in notepad and re-saving. Things like being set to wrong encoding(being set to ANSI when it wants a UTFx etc...) could maybe do it.

Any extraneous characters could do it.

I think all versions of the NR2003.exe can see other versions player settings.

I too, had this issue once, I think I just ended up copying the Player file and changing its name and then going in and changing the values and info, that's what i seem to recall...but my memory may be quite flawed

Player file could have gotten corrupted. This is why I always backup my entire NR directory. If the player gets corrupted I just close the game, and copy/paste the player file from my backup. Since I have automatic backups set its always the most recent good version. It s a lot easier to copy/paste tha have to redo al the game options and steering settings.
