Doing a 41-car roster. Got 13 to go. Special thanks to Dr. Noise for some help tracking down some logos for this 1994 car set...and shout-out to me for shamelessly stealing from some of his hard work x'D -- and special thanks to jameswiggin for helping me through some things template-wise and working on some logos.

Anyway, this car -- Getting the gray paint lines on the roof to line up is a nightmare...and ends up looking like a nightmare anyway...so you get a black roof; get over it. I was reading the debate on the "TOUGH ONE" font for the Delco decal in Dr. Noise's thread. Uh, er, I'm using the accurate one, just believe me. Again, not messing around with valences, side skirts, or jack tape. Can always add jack tape down the homestretch.

If it looks like the Chevy logo on the hood is comically large, that's because it has to be. Anything smaller than that pixel-by-pixel re-creation, then colors all around it start bleeding into it and it looks like poo.

Decided to go with black on the underbody parts going from the side to the roof because white just didn't look right.
Don't ask about the silver numbers because I don't want to talk about it.
Didn't fuss with the silver stroke on the side orange going to the back because, again, it just look distorted back there.

I'm not worrying about accuracy with the front contingency decals because -- come on. Even the experts in these forums couldn't I.D. all of them in this pixelized format if their lives depended on it. I do have slightly different set for Ford/Pontiac/Chevy, but that's where I stop. I would want to be there in person if someone downloaded this obscure car set and was like, "What the heck, man? DW didn't have the Clevite decal. This is stupid."

Overall, I know I'm giving myself a 7/10 on these. The judges knock 2 points off for getting lazy with the front contingencies, and an extra point deducted for being a jobber.

Great! The look is excellent! Sometimes I think I would like the gameplay of NR2 in NR3, as well as the graphics of NR3 in NR2.

By the way, I found somewhere a carshape that better represents cars from the early 90s, and you don't need to change the templates and paint jobs. The problem? I don't remember where I found it... I'll try to find it.

I came across something you're describing in my Wayback Machine adventures, and it's in my bookmarks folder somewhere. After I finish this car set, I'm diving into downloading everything and then sort it out later haha.

Click to expand. The '94 car set is finished. Thank you to everyone who sent along encouraging words that motivated me to keep getting after it. I'm putting the finishing touches on skill ratings and trying to get driver pictures into the game, and then I'll be posting a download link sometime this weekend. It will be on a new N2 site I've been putting together.

Wonderful, spectacular! It's interesting to think that as a teenager in 1996, I could never have imagined that in 2024 I would still be playing NR2, and that a new carset would be released! :extremelyhappy::extremelyhappy::extremelyhappy:

Make sure to rename your 'Home' page to the title of your website for the sake of search engines and for folks book marking it. Congrats on getting it up! Ahem, er um... the site I mean.

D’oh! I think I originally kept it as HOME since anything long eats up real estate in the top menu. The Google Sites UI is nice but has some limitations and doesn’t let you edit the raw html. I’ll investigate.

Tying a bow on this thread with the link to my NASCAR Racing 2 site: https://sites.google.com/view/acnr2/home
Easy install!
Glad to see this come to fruition! Even if the older games don't have as much support, it it still nice to see someone actively keeping them alive!

Reminds me that with the ability to play NASCAR Sim Racing on modern systems cracked, I might try and do something similar with that. Yes NR2003 may be the gold standard, but that doesn't mean other titles should be forgotten. Besides, preservation of these older titles, whether it comes to add on content, knowledge, or other related history is paramount, especially with the way the gaming landscape has changed.

I hope everything goes well, and I am excited to see what's next

Thanks! Yeah, the sims from the '90s need to be preserved. NR2003 is the top option, but a lot of fun can be had with these older ones since they don't focus strictly on realism and have "fun" as their biggest goal.
