Does this prove that Ford of North America basically had no idea of their own inventory?

At no point was the Taurus a better machine than the Falcon and it sounds like the planned T-Bird replacement was just a 4th Gen Mustang derived thing which never needed to exist.

In 1996 they could have gone:
EL Falcon as Taurus
NL/DL Fairlane as Lincoln Mark whatever and LTD as LTD and Crown Vic.

As it is, Thunderbird 8, 9 and 10 are basically wannabe Falcon coupes.

Yep, the Taurus may not have been a better machine, But FORD sold a lot of them ... 2,988,898 to be exact.

McDoggle's have probably sold billions of Filet O'Fish and that's a hot mess of garbage. Just because a lot of thing is sold, doesn't make it good.

Well, I don't know about that ... The problem is where the fish is coming from, So depending on where you live depends on where your fish comes from and the kind of fish. Here in South Alabama,(I think it's Atlantic Cod or White Fish) the Filet O'Fish is very good here.

OH!! they are 2 for 5 on the App.. LOL :)

Why was the "Personal Luxury Car" ever a thing?

T-Bird is supposed to be this thing; which I guess is the logical end of the so-called "business coupe" of the 1930s and 1940s. I get why in 1957 that someone might want a small coupe but by the mid-1980s, the Mustang with the Windsor 302 already fills that hole.

Why is the T-Bird a thing by that stage?

Interestingly, Ford also ask the same question and it disappears before a retro echo... never to be seen again.
