3d max 17 Background

I'm trying but cant seem to figure out how 0to make a new background show right, it appears to be way to large.
This is what I was trying to render. MasGrafx CTS using 2017 3 Dmax.

This is what came out which looks good but...

Another note if I change the angle of the plane or ground, the white ground will show, not sure how to make it clear .
Any help would be appericated

Well it must have something to do with the size or setting for the image, I can take a Mental ray max9 scene with custom background. save the scene open it in max17 and it renders just fine.
but once I try to make one in max17 it looks fine till render time but it is blurred and looks to be real close to background.
