Hmmm, with that image, what I found searching the 'J.R. Janke' makes way more sense too.

I found some hints with the name that came up with the following:

J. R. Janke
U.S. 70 Auto World

Address is listed in Durham, so makes sense that it could work. (This was based on the original image that @Petty4345 had before the edit.)

We are miles closer on this one, at least. I believe the Bryant one is 'Bryant Industrial Contractors'. We can now read the J.R. Janke one no problem. Still not sure what is written under the word 'Smart', though. This photo was supplied by Brock Beard, a YouTuber who makes some fantastic videos and also runs 'Lastcar'.

With this picture, it looks like the following IMO.

***** Construction Inc.

If you look in the dead center of the word, it appears to be a trac. This would lead me to believe contractor rather than construction. The a is relatively clear and just...given its location in the word it would lead me away from construction being the word. What I am not a fan of is the style they used on those words to bend them around a line. Like, I know how to do it, but it's goofy shaped and annoying and I hate it. lol

I believe you are definitely right about the Inc., though. I wasn't sure, but now that you say it. I think that's right.

My post was in reference to the 'SMART' logo. Thought I had cleared out the other text, but seems I didn't. Fixed that now.

=====

As for the Bryant decal, I think it's 'Contractors', as that does look like it's a 'S' at the end when zoomed. And yes, agree with you about it being 'INC' at the bottom too.

Heck. Yes. Brock with the save again! This should be enough to work with. Also the interior is light blue. Kinda makes you wonder what car this used to be. (Edit! nevermind. It's the same car, just repainted. The white car had the same blue interior. lol) Also this is clear enough to recreate the Bryant logo accurately. Happy dance.

OOOOF. That car fell out of the ugly tree and hit ALL the branches on the way down.....

Also - I never considered Brock as a resource for old photos..... Does he just have an archive of those related to 'LastCar'? Or does he have something more extensive?

With the videos he's done for as long as he's done them, the stories he's written on Lastcar and elsewhere, and his focus especially on back markers, he's developed a lot of good photo resources (people and sites) and also saves pretty much everything in the process. I've contacted him on 4 different occasions, and 3 out of the 4 he came through. I wasn't even asking for photos on the purple/black 'Ugly Tree' car. lol. I was just whining to him that I was certain I'd never see it outside the broadcast. Then poof. He sent me a photo. I am still waiting on Moody to contact Skinner to hopefully be able to confirm what's written under 'SMART' so I/we all don't have to guess (if possible).

Hmmm..... I might give him a poke and see if he knows anything more about the Motegi Exhibition race......

Think he might have pictures from the 2001 MBNA Cal Ripken Jr. 400's DNQs then? I've still never seen a picture of Dave Marcis's #71 from that weekend, as I want to do all the cars from that event for my 9/11 set. Also still on the lookout for any other pictures of Rick Mast's #27 from the same weekend too. Have 1 small photo of it, but can't fully tell what flags (at least I assume they are) they had under the Sauer's logo in-front of the rear wheels (guessing they could be PA & NY state flags??), as well as the text under the big American flag on the QP.

Here's a thought. That Lee Johnson guy who has the photo negatives of the car. He's been posting on Facebook. Maybe reach out to him and ask if he can take a closer look at the negative scan and see if he can enlarge that area enough to make it out

I talk to Lee with some frequency. He's been helpful on one occasion. Every other time I've chatted with him I've ended up getting the answers elsewhere before he even has a chance. lol

So, what did you decide to go with for the 'SMART' logos 'extra' text?
I went with @Slipster17 's suggestion of "Home Construction Inc." as it seemed to make the most sense combining all our guesses together. If Skinner happens to remember it saying something else, I can change it after hearing back from him. But otherwise, I think that's about the best we could ask for.

The chassis looks like it could be an old Petty chassis. Looks to be painted about the same way they did the 43 chassis until they went to the grey in 1991. Or could be an old Piedmont Terry Labonte chassis since I think they used the light blue for the chassis on some of those cars.
