Not really a budget build, but it sounded good.. A new friend has offered up his old rig (in another thread, in the hotlapping forum) and I wanted a separate thread to discuss it in.. Thanks again @DKgorace for the very generous donation to my sim racing addiction! So, here's how it went down, Stunod style!!

It's a chore, I'll tell ya that.. Been working on it off and on for about a week. Started in the :11's and worked it down to a :6.89 or something, but wasn't recording. Tried for a half hour tonight to get back into the 6's and couldn't do it. The fastest guys on the net, like PaulaD are just insane on how deep they can get into the corners and not lock the brakes or spin the car. Don't know how they do it. I run "factory" ABS and Traction and basically the stock setup with the PSI bumped up to 16lbs. Im sure they use tricked up setups but I can't see that gaining 3 seconds. Something to do with braking, imo.. And practice.. Lots of practice. lol
Quality load cel pedals, and set up. I got a lot faster with practice, but nothing prepared me for load cel brakes. With in a week of practice I was killing the guys I use to race with.......(they weren't as happy as I on my new purchase)........ The only problem with that is mine are $200 and change, decent ones are $300-500. Nice pedals are $1k now a days. But it's not you Mitch, I can tell you that. You are very fast and seems to me, peaking at the ability of the T-150. And of course these top guys are in major quality rigs......Some guys I recently use to race.....(ACC)... are in these $5k to $10k rigs and I could never figure out how I got smoked everytime. I'm not saying you need to upgrade to get faster ...(kinda takes the fun out of it).....but I had a similar thing in photography. I stepped up to the pro level camera equipment and everything came together easily than before. Less editing, better overall photos by a huge margin, able to shoot racing and turn around the next day and do landscape.etc.. I will be working on V3 Fanatec pedals next year, and if you want I'll have these ones now set aside for you. Just sayin.
Yea, equipment certainly makes a difference! I need to get another cockpit so my arse doesn't go numb.. lol Office chair up against a desk kinda kills the immersion. Bummer I've had 2 cockpits over the years and threw em' both in the trash when I stopped sim racing.. But I'll probably upgrade the PC before I do the wheel/pedals though, unless they go belly up or something.. May look into some home brew upgrades for them.. Oh and who's Mitch? Im Mick and Im a simracing addict..
Holy crap I did type Mitch.................haha........... I must have been having old roommate flashbacks from 20 years ago.......(miss that guy, best roommate I ever had)... Good idea on the computer first. I milked mine as far as I could, Mick. Now I don't even bother trying to overclock mine now with the CPU water cooled I get 4.6 Ghz all day with the mobo and Intel software doing it for me. 90 to 160 fps in rF2 in 4k, AC a bit less and ACC straight 60 fps.
My potato runs pretty well for what it is.. i4 2500 GTX1050ti. lol
Mick if you pay for shipping I'll give you my i7 4770s with mobo and 24g of ddr3 ram.
Can I have one too?
I could be like Oprah........"YOU GET AN i7...........AND YOU GET AN i7......EVERYBODY GETS AN i7!!!"
I already have an i7 but only 4790k a new motherboard is what I need.
Oh hell 4790k is a nice 4ghz work horse.I have a couple MOBOs but not nice enough to be getting the most out of that CPU. I could check my friend in California. He use to buld crazy shit back in the 1150 socket days.
Dang, that's very generous of you Dave!! Tell me how much shipping is and I'll paypal it to ya! You can have my i4 if you want it Johnny? I don't know much about PC's these days.. I built a rig for NR2003 back in like 08'.. Was the last time I messed with it. I bought my (current) whole rig, less video card, off ebay, which was a Dell Optiplex 790 which they said could be turned into a decent budget gaming rig..
I'll PM you on Facebook to keep it privite from here. I.E. need ur address and such
I still use Socket 1150.
I know the 4k series is 1150 socket nothing wrong with that. it's what I was running before I built this rig.
@M_Nesevitch It's all about the air flow from here. My old rig that I sent you was a pre-built mini desktop but with then GTX 970- GPU it was getting pretty damn hot. And yes I drilled the shit out of my little case before my gaming tower...Hahahaha
Im not sure that thing would fit under my desk! So it'll fit in a mini tower but you don't recommend that, if Im hearing what your saying.. I was thinking a nice ATX "mid" tower with a "few" fans. A 600W psu and maybe a CM 212 EVO cooler?? (Recommendations welcome!!)
*Sorry @Highbank @garrett1127 .. Were in the wrong thread again, talking computer specs.. Any way we can cut/paste these last handful of posts (#387-current) over to the Computer Specs thread??
