No.
Is there an unbranded crate motor?
If not, then the hassle of building an engine from scratch, is almost certainly not worth the effort.

Honda/Mazda? Explain?

Dear god, ever since Mazda split with Ford on chassis and parts (around the same time their cars got lighter, quicker, more fun to drive and more reliable too), I've hoped. It's not likely, but as a long time Mazda fan/owner, I want nothing more than to see a MazdaSpeed 6 compete.

Honda is probably the safest bet, as that's been booted around the rumor mill for what? A decade now?

I faintly recall reading something about Nissan being in slight trouble financially, although it's allied partner Renault could help there, if they weren't both bailing out the last 3rd of their trifecta, Mitsubishi.

I think people are overlooking BMW though. BIG plant in South Carolina. A borderline cult following. 550 hp would be easily doable for them.

I know this had been beaten into oblivion, but Dodge. There was another merger involving Fiat Chrysler Motors, and Peugeot, thus creating Stellantis, which holds brands from Fiat Chrysler, Peugeot, as well as Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Opel and Vauxhall. All names associated with racing/performance. Don't count them out just yet.

I would say Audi, but parent company Volkswagen has enough trouble to deal with. They have the resources, sure, but I believe their focus is elsewhere, and a 550 hp engine is not going to entice them, when they were plenty capable of entering with a MUCH higher hp level. Remember, parent company of Bugatti and Lamborghini. HP is NOT an issue lol

I think it's been stated before that what makes things difficult is actually breaking into NASCAR, especially with the charter system, and now even more so with charters being held by prominent/solid teams next year. They would need a team to convert over.

Hendrick has a solid relationship with Honda, but him ditching Chevy is as likely as Mark Martin coming out of retirement.... again...
JGR isn't budging from Toyota as they have a nice stranglehold on manufacturer support.
Roush is Ford. I don't think there's a 'Roush' tuned anything other than a Ford.

I think teams like Childress (and thereby RPM), Trackhouse, DTG, even SHR (if the price is right, Gene and Stewart are businessmen to the core), and DEFINITELY Penske if Ford doesn't maintain it's support, are potential candidates for a swap. More so if Chevy's recent surge wanes enough, the teams here that run that manufacturer don't have the resources or staying power of HMS, might look for backing from an alternate OEM.

Re: BMW:
5er/7er/8er/X5/X6 - N63 - 4.4L V8

I don't know where BMW would get a 5.9L V8 from.
Toyota's NASCAR V8 was reverse engineered from a Ford powerplant(I've heard) using info supplied by BDR from Dodge, so making a NASCAR V8 would be doable.

I think any new manufacture will wait for the new 2023 engine rules though, as why build an engine only good for one or two seasons?

You mean the same BMW that supplied Rolls Royce with V12s? I'm confident they can construct something as relatively simple as a V8, especially if Toyota managed it lol

The last time I remember BMW putting a V8 in their car to race... the organizers got pissy.

Oh yeah, that was IMSA with the BMW M3 GTR, LOL.

Yes but why?

Would they benefit enough from in sales to warrant inventing an engine program?

They are in quite the war with Audi and Mercedes sales-wise. and outside of the 3-series, their sales aren't exactly amazing when compared to other cars in and around that class. So I could see a potential benefit there, certainly long term. Pretty sure it helped Toyota a fair amount.

After Audi's hybrid cars at Le Mans and running Formula E, Dakar Rally plans... Nascar would be many steps back as a brand/company.

I agree. Just tossed the brands out there that I've seen people talk about/use in NR2003. Covering all the bases, as it were lol

I would like to see Dodge/Ram back in Nascar, along with the Addition of Nissan & Volkswagen

I think Dodge uses the Challenger in Cup & Xfinity, then Ram with the Rebel in trucks

I think Nissan uses the GT-R in Cup & Xfinity, then the Titan in trucks

I Think Volkswagen uses the Jetta in Cup & Xfinity, then Amarok in trucks

No.
Amarok > Triton > Navara > Great Wall > D-Max > Ranger > Hilux

Hilux was the best and now suffers from terrible build quality. Ranger took over as the standard and is still good but everyone else has now eclipsed it.

Amarok would be sensible for Volkswagen to sell in the United States.
