As of today; with the announcement/non-announcement that DJR Penske may or may not be back next year, there are only 7 confirmed RECs for 2021.

They are as follows:
Holdsworth - TIckford Racing
Percat - Brad Jones Racing
Whincup - T8 RBR
Van Giz - T8 RBR
Reynolds - Erebus
Brown - Erebus (from Super 2)
Mostert - WAU (not in a Commodore)

This got weird:

Description:
CHAZ MOSTERT’S WALKINSHAW CHASSIS #25

The season isn't over and WAU are already auctioning off Mostert’s current Walkinshaw Andretti United Commodore. Rumours have been flying around that they will not be running Commodores in 2021.

I think I read that when it was announced that GM was discontinuing Holden, WAU quickly announced they were going to stop using Holdens as soon as they could. There are like 4 teams that are supposed to use Holden next year, but who knows. I wonder if it will only be Fords next year or if another Manufacturer will step in. It is possible GM will replace the Holdens with another Manufacturer, but I don't know enough about the Australian/New Zealand market to guess what that would be.

GM have abandoned worldwide right hand drive production. That means that there are no GM cars currently available in the world for direct sale in Australia.

GM did register the label GMSV to replace HSV but because Camaro is being discontinued and Corvette and Cadillac are likely to be sold for upper six figure prices, I can see them being sold in the tens.

It will definitely be interesting to see what the Holden teams end up doing over the next few years. I personally don't see WAU making any changes for next year - the auction of their car is for delivery at the end of 2021. It would be a massive project to undertake to get a new manufacturer on the grid for next year when the Next Gen regulations are only a couple of years away - I would think a lot of the teams would be happy treading water until then.

Also thought it worth mentioning, it's great to see interest in Supercars taking off on this forum!

For literally decades I only followed NASCAR with a passing interest in IndyCar and lower series like ARCA. I'm not really sure why but in the last couple years I began following many more forms of racing, Including IMSA, F1 (and 2 and , F-e, WEC, IndyCar, ELM, non American NASCAR series, and V8 Supercars. There are whole worlds of racing out there with different cars, styles, and rules. It's very interesting!

If I was Grand Poohbah and Lord High Everything Else then I would argue that since the cars are already bespoke bits of kit, then we should be able to build whatever we like that fits around the common floorpan and rollcage.

To that end, I'd like a Torrie A21X.

I wanna see someone fabricate an old new car. This'd be cool.

On top of his third straight V8 crown, McLaughlin desperately wants to go back-to-back at Bathurst before he jets off to the States for his IndyCar racing debut, which is regarded as a prelude to a full-time switch next year.

Scotty Mac almost certainly jumping ship before/if DJR Penske ceases to/maybe not exist.

Does this mean that DJR in 2021 if it exists is:
17 - Coulthard
18 - D'Alberto

Oh hey

17 - Coulthard
18 - D'Alberto
No. There is practically no chance of that for three reasons:
1. 18 is taken by Charlie and he won't want to give it back
2. No way that Tony gets a full time seat
3. By saying Erebus 'expects to run two cars' in 2021, Barry Ryan just practially confirmed Anton to DJR (with or without Penske).

It's even unlikely Fabs will stay on; Will Davison has been linked with his seat

Have to agree with @ddrap14 on this one, there's no way DJR would take D'Alberto over De Pasquale or Davison, even without Penske support. He's a solid co-driver, but hasn't run a full-time season in years

https://www.supercars.com/news/championship/fullwood-wins-wau-contract-extension/
Walkinshaw Andretti United has rewarded Bryce Fullwood for his promising rookie season with a contract extension.
...
It means WAU will head into 2021 with an unchanged driver line-up, having made a double switch away from James Courtney and Scott Pye last off-season.
- via Supercars, 14th Oct 2021

Ryan Walkinshaw mentioned in mid-September that they will be running ZB Commodores in 2021 after all.

It's also curious that Holden sponsorship won't actually be carried on the Red Bull Racing cars at Bathurst; with them having a message which reads "Thanks Holden Fans".

Roland Dane on t' telly this morning says that he filed the Vehicle Compliance Documents for the Camaro.

The Camaro?

A car which isn't even on sale in Australia, from a company which doesn't even trade in Australia.

In 2022, with the closing of Holden, Chevy might be making a stronger appearance in Australia.

This is a ridiculously low bar.
Selling just 1 car would be Chevy making a stronger appearance in Australia.

There are no 2020 GM plated cars for sale in Australia. The last compliance plates on Holdens was 12/19; as HSV was a partnership between TWR and Holden, and Holden no longer exist, there is no current conversion operation for the Camaro in Australia either. GMSV is partnered with Walkinshaw Automotive Group and they're continuing their remaining orders for the Silverado (A$113,990).

The Camaro for Supercars is being manufactured as bespoke outside pieces for Gen-3 by Triple Eight Engineering and we already know that cars can be reclothed as the NED Mustang is actually what used to be one of the Nissans.

To be fair, that happens in NASCAR also. The chassis are pretty much all the same just with a different sheetmetal or composite body bolted to them.

Before CoTF it never really happened.

The most radical changes were changing a car from VK to VL or from VN to VR.
Other than that, it was mainly grills and light clusters from XB to XC.

Dick Johnson's 1980 "Rock" Falcon XD started out as a 302 Windsor highway patrol car automatic; which then took the 351 Cleveland from the 1979 XC Falcon. The Falcon is basically an identical platform from 1960-2016; which is why a Coyote is a direct engine swap for a 1960 XL but with FGX engine mounts.

Bathurst 2020... yeah?

25 cars: the smallest entry list in the events' history
17 Commodores: from a brand that no longer exists
8 Mustangs: to replace a car that no longer exists

This was the race for the Tony Abbott Manufacturing Trophy.

It was fitting that Australia's Greatest Race was won by a Kiwi.

Are we going to get to Gen-3 in 2022?
