Hi, I have the only Martinsville night track I could find, only problem is the sky is just black, no clouds, stars,or a moon, just black. I don't know if there's a sky box or dome that is used but no textures on this track. Question would be, Is there a fix for this?
Thanks for any help.

There isn't any shading for a night atmosphere either.. It's basically a day track with a black sky.

I downloaded some textures from another site, they did replace the other textures in that tracks folder and they work, but looks like a dusk sky, I see s_nsky and c_nsky files in there. Also there are s_sky and c_sky files in there.
I'm thinking the track is only calling for the sky files and not the nsky files so if I rename the nsky files to sky files and just delete or change the sky files to nsky files it should work. I also did see a thread about this, but I didn't get it at first but realized it while posting this reply, so I am not taking credit for this!!!
Thanks
Steve

I'm going to leave it alone for tonight, I see five nsky files and ten sky files for each c and s so there's some mixing in there for weather so it going to be an experiment unless someone knows otherwise. The way it is it's actually pretty good looking, just not total night.
Thanks
Steve

I am not sure but the last time I raced this track there were some AI pitting issues.

Ok got a cloudy night sky with stars and a lit moon.
I'll be back with the solution, have to try something for a clear night sky.

Ok, this is what to do for this track, go here http://mciarlo.com/nr2003/
Download the file, I used the HD.
I myself extracted the files to a folder I named so I could have a backup.
Next I copied and pasted them into THIS TRACK'S folder and was asked to overwrite about 40 files which I did.
You can go ahead and leave it alone ifyou want to, it's not bad try it out first.
To get the night sky I renamed the c_sky mips 1 thru 5 to cc_sky I just added a c in front to keep them instead of deleting.
Next I renamed the c_nsky mips 1 thru 5 to c_sky 1 thru 5, just removed the n.
I then tried the track and no luck.
Next I renamed the c_nsky_01.env.mip thru 05.env.mip to c_sky_01.env.mip thru 05.env.mip just removed the n.
Ran the track and it worked. I was satisfied with that and didn't pay attention to the weather settings. I then tried to get a clear night sky by doing the same renaming of the s_sky files it didn't work, it made the sky just a light blue, I also renamed the s_sky_11.mip thru 20.mip so they would not be used, just got a dark blue version with no stars or moon.
So I went back on that.
I can go to the track and select CLOUDY in the weather section and I get the cloudy night sky with stars and a lit moon.
This is a work in progress let's say, So I will work on it and I'm sure some of you will to.
Better than no sky!!!!Martinsville.jpg

This is just a personal observation I have with regard to night skies in NR2003. When you go to a night race, whether it be at a big "cup" track or a Saturday night short track, you cannot see clouds or stars in the sky. It's generally just pitch black or various shades of dark blue or hazy black night.

This is something that I personally feel that the Papyrus guys got wrong in offering night skies with stars, clouds and or moon. Now in real life at a night race, if the moon is out you will be able to see it, but not the clouds or stars. The bright track lights will "drown out" your ability to see clouds or stars. That's why you'll see the night skies in our PST track releases not including stars or clouds. Just my own personal thoughts on making the skies for night tracks in NR2003 look more realistic.

I was going to make this comment. With all the bright lights at the track you cannot see a single star. It looks really cool, having a night sky with stars, but it isn't very realistic.

I can understand where you're coming from but this was like running a game without a skybox, looked like an unfinished game.

Well, one thing we can do is watch the race coming up and check out the view from the roof cams, plus other cameras and see what it looks like. Not something I normally look for but will this next race.
