When I was working on a few "never been made" 1999 cars for papycup I was trying to find resources for the racers characters but had a hard time (this was like 2009-2011ish). It's really cool to see these get made!

I hear ya! I've been contemplating these for ages. I decided on drawing the character assets myself based on the 'hero cards' included with the 1/64 diescasts and what images exist of the cars at the race.

The #55 is pretty much done as well - just cleaning up the base paint.

I love this car, and you knocked it out of the park! Tony Stewart also had Small Soldiers on the Busch Series #44 one time that year (Myrtle Beach in July).

@Slipster17 I bet, I bet... you don't have the '01 Coca-Cola Polar Bear #18 & #20 on your list.

You wouldn't do them in high res now with redrawn graphics etc... now would you?

:p
.............................nooooooooooooo........ at least not yet, lol. I'm finding that I really like to focus on those cars that used 'characters' of some sort in the scheme. Maybe that'll be my focus for 2023 :openedeyewink:

@Slipster17 I've got to ask Sir, how many extra Diecast have you ended up with just to get the box art/sleeve?
Only 4 or 5 actually! (and I don't care about what shape the Diecast itself is in so they usually just go to my boys.) Most of the time I'm able to just pick the best/ most high quality head on photo of the box from ebay and work off that.

Yep, Ebay is a great place to find resources. Have found many things over the years and look around it all the time. Very rarely have I had to buy a diecast although did have to buy a 43 car the other day for a car I'm working on. Awesome job on the 18 bud, always loved that scheme!!!

I've picked up some of the cartoon network cars for cheap on Ebay. The kids loved those and the box art was on pretty much every side of those things. Actual scans were more helpful than the sale images.

Oh yeah no doubt some things is better to have a scan of the box or the item. That's why I had to buy that 43 car the other day. lol But I've found anything from images of cars to logo's on Ebay. Is surprising some of the stuff you can find that helps with the older scheme's.
