Cars are being reviewed, corrections being made, crews being painted, stats being added.

Didn't initially intend to make this car part of my set - but seeing as I had already blown my projected number of included cars out of the water I decided "What the heck!"

Glad I did.

Beautiful! Didn't he also run a Raybestos car or was that just a diecast?

Yes, in '98.

But that was an ARCA race, probably to get experience/approval to run a plate track for '98 Cup as the Truck series didn't run at Daytona then or the Cup races he entered in '97.

Plugging right along - making great progress! And trying my hardest not to go half-assed on the crew details when I can find pictures and footage of the uniforms. There are some really fun and unique graphics and designs that I've discovered - one of which is the track design going from left hip and up and over the right shoulder on the #44 crew!

Fun find of the evening! It's pretty well known that Suzuka 1997 was the first ever 'race' test of Good Years rain tires for the Winston Cup cars - with some teams also throwing on home made windshield wipers and brake lights to make it safely through practice and qualifying. It never occurred to me that some teams didn't have the time or man power to remove some of these additions prior to the race.

I had noted that some cars I saw during the race broadcast seemed to be lacking the normal FORD, CHEVY and PONTIAC emblems on their rear bumpers but just chalked it up to not having manufacturers support for this exhibition race. BUT - as seen is this wonderfully clear race image I found on Twitter - those few cars that I saw as missing their rear emblem most likely still all had their makeshift brake lights installed!

Note the rear of Kenny Wallace's white #72 and Lance Hooper's #1.

How cool is that?!

WOW not only that but just the fact it's a rear shot with some of the race exclusive cars in it is amazing. Some of these older cars we have to guess what the rear graphics were.

Seeing the back of Kenny's car like that was one of the main peices I could never see in the horrible quality broadcast images. Right ahead of him is Randy LaJoie in the #74 Staff America. I took a guess at that one based on passing shots in the race broadcast and I can see by the 'www' that is visible I think I was right!

The 02, the 1 and the 21 I had some pictures of from this / other races.
