Sooooo...
I'm currently on a mini project to pretty much revamp all the "outdated" tracks that I have, such as Bristol14 or Richmond11 Day, but when I unpack the file using WinMip2, I try to open the file on Sandbox. Everything's fine until when I try to open it, as Sandbox just gives me this error message.

Is there something I'm not getting? Any help is appreciated.

Before you go through the work you should know there has been a small revival of track makers and it's possible somebody is already working towards your goal. That's not to discourage you, in fact, more help is extremely welcome. But, it will be a heavy investment of time to learn all the nuances of track building. Just a little heads up in case you were unaware.

Let's start with the probable missing shared folder:
Unpack your tracks/shared/shared.dat
Wherever you unpacked your track, create a new folder inside that track folder called "shared". Place your unpacked shared.dat files inside that folder.

Try that, to start.

Alright, I have done that, and now I have duplicated the track I want to edit (Richmond_SBP11) and renamed it to richmond_day17. I unpacked the .dat file, and now I'm getting this error in my change log.

A trick with Sandbox is that the error displayed isn't always the issue. It is recommended to move your sandbox project folder outside of your NascarRacing directory.

When you renamed your track, did you also rename the .ptf?
Did it load before renaming the track?

Here are a couple videos from JRock that kind of give a walkthrough of how to setup the project folder.

I've watched these videos before, but I have never been able to actually open a track on Sandbox. I tried to move my file out of the NR2003 directory and load it but nothing has changed. If all else fails, I might just open GIMP and just update the .mip files.
