Bringing this thread back from the dead - who all builds plastic models around here nowadays?

I've been building on and off since I was 8 (38 now). In the midst of a bit of a Renaissance with a couple late 90s cars that should be super fun to work on! These are custom builds - not box stock kits.

I've built models since I was like 6 or 8, I've built everything and I mean everything. I quit a few years ago when it pretty much became impossible for me to hold a paint brush.

I feel like I'm finally at that point where I have the time, knowledge, skill and patience to blow everything I built while in my teens out of the water, lol. Lord knows I certainly learned tons of ways how-not-to-do-things over the years!

Fluorescent paint cars for instance.... I could NEVER get that finish to come out looking right. But 'fingers crossed' I think I got it coming out right for this one.

Nice! Love that you had a fleet of Star Trek birds going.

I built a pair of Elliott/ Mayfield twin Dodges back when those kits first came out. But in the ensuing years and moves I for some reason decided I only need to display one at a time (?!?!?!?!) so I lost the second chassis..... boy that was a bone head move...... those old Dodge kits are near impossible to find anymore. I'd love to find some donor parts and build another chassis but I'm not spending $80 to do it, lol.

These were done with the Revell box kits and a combo of kit decals and Slixx aftermarket.

Well, since you asked, I'll respectfully leave my opinion, but I don't want to influence any hobbyist. I built several Tamiya kits throughout the 90's, I was always impressed with their level of detail and finish. This brand began to disappear from here in the region, at the same time as the appearance of Revell and AMT kits. I even bought a few, but the level of detail and finish I thought was quite inferior, and obviously I lost interest because of it. Not to mention that the models I built were gradually dismantling themselves. I came to the conclusion that it was better for me to buy ready-made or ready-to-assemble metal models. I still have cars since the 1980s. But none of the plastic kits I assembled exist anymore...

I've had and built one of these in the 2000s! The outside of the car was very well done! But all the internal parts were bad and full of burrs. Maybe it was bad luck...

I've had built an Olds Kodak 1990 and Ford Coors Light also.

I don't know about you, but I used to sand the tires to make them more realistic. I tried to paint the tire brands with a very fine brush too.

I was going to redesign the Construction to be the sailing ship Enterprise. I had the shuttle, TOS, the A,B,C, and D along with the NX. I had the Voyager and a Kazon ship and a Klingon Bird Of Pry and a TNG Klingon battle cruiser.

In my youth I had every Corvette model I could get my hands on, even had the 1/8 '65.

I gave a few to my co-work, but most were either lost or broken during moves. The only surviving model I have is Bill Elliot's.

I have many, many 1/24 Revell Nascar kits I've not started.

I have many, many 1/24 & 1/20 Tamiya kits I've not started.

I have many, many 1/12 Tamiya kits I've not started.

I have a 1/12 Revell Mustang kit I've started...

:happyblush
From my looking around in various modeling fourms/groups, that seems to be a very common problem amongst modelers. More kits than you have time to build, and so many projects you want to do you can't get to them all.
