I'm still not in favor of retiring any numbers in NASCAR - but if you are going to retire the 3, 43 and 48 - then why not add the 21 and 24?

21... is an odd case because it fits into the set at Penske.

3... should have been back out for open horse trading a long time ago

24... Hendrick's numbers were 5 and 25. 24 was picked so that it fit with that. 24 is a really silly legacy piece.

I think that the idea of retiring numbers forever is as equally dumb as holding on to them as legacy pieces.

To wit:
Mario Andretti, DW, and Denny Hamlin have all run #11 and it's cool.
