Hello finally after 2 years I buy a new computer and I installed NR2003 back but this time there was a day my computer stopped working and I don’t understand how it happened if that computer only have 1 month and the computer where I was playing and painting cars in the past have 14 years and never failed after 1 week of installing NR2003 it failed because the HDD was so old but my new computer failed from nowhere and the tech supporter from the PC store told to me that was NR2003 but if the reason was really NR2003 that should happened to my old computer
My new computer specs are
Processor: Intel core I3 gen 3
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: 1 GB
SSD: 450 GB
Directx9
Windows 10
Actually my computer is working but I’m scared if I reinstall NR2003 again it will fail again
The fail was a turn on-shut down cycle

Hi,
This should not have made Windows 10 do that unless it thought you were trying to slip in some "UnSigned Driver" or something but maybe you installed under "Program Files" Folder. It can get touchy then. If not the case, then I don't know why.
Make sure you do not have reduced privileges.
I never install something I may need to modify like this into any of the "Program Files" folders. tighter file security there.
You may want to make the folders yourself that you are going to install into to make sure you are the full owner with permissions.
Mine is installed on "D:\Games\NASCAR 2003 Season\" .
Make sure any files you are going to install are unblocked.
When installing, select the Setup file and set permissions as Win XP Service Pack 2(I go 2 and not 3, tighter security on 3, may make difference, may not).
Run Setup as an Admin.
Set all patches you are going to install with same permissions and run as Admin.
If you are using the No-CD file, sometimes Windows balks at letting you copy it correctly, in that case I rename the No-CD file to something other than NR2003.exe and copy it to the game folder. Rename NR2003 to something different, rename the No-CD file to NR2003.exe and set the permissions on it. Reboot?
It should work now.... Hopefully. Mine does and I never have to change DEP or anything. I just installed NR2003 on a laptop for testing connecting to it running as a server and that is the way I did it. It wanted to make a link/shortcut of the No-CD file if it was just copied over the same named main file.

Had no problem with the 4GB patch running permissions the same way.

Hope this helps. Was trying to get to this yesterday. :0)

Hi,
I really do not know if it will or not(crash again).
Best to make a backup of your PC just in case.
I like Acronis TIH., paid with free trial. There is EASEUS backup that works similarly when I have used it in the past that is free.

Also before you do something that you worry may adversely affect your system, Create a "System Restore". You can then if you have problems get into the recovery environment and choose to restore form a System restore point.
You can create a bootable Win10 USB drive with the Windows Media Creation Tool and run recovery from it also if getting into recovery from your system.

Reboot after installing NR2003 and run it before making any No-CD changes and all(after running the 3DSetup).
Not sure if being run first or not being run first will affect any permissions etc. I don't think I rebooted til changing that though.

Did it crash just after installing NR2003 or after trying the No-CD file?
OH I guess if you don't have the disk(like I do :0) you cannot test what happens without the No-CD file... Ugh.

Do you have any system restore points BEFORE you first tried to install NR2K3? Any that won't lose any other changes etc. you have done.
You could try going BEFORE you did any of this just in case Windows nailed down some info on the NR2003 file and is holding it hostage LOL
May be something hanging in there.

Not sure what else.
You could try downloading and running DXWebSetup just in case it is something with NR2003 and DX files that it does not like. HERE DXWebSetup from Microsoft.
Probably not it but that should be installed for these old games.

Hope for the Best!
