Well that's dumb.

Compare processing times of a camera and screen to a rear view mirror.

0.000 000 003 33s

3 nanoseconds for a rear view mirror as opposed to a millionth?

ELI5:
What is the "transaxle" in this case?

1. Is this a dumb name for the differential housing; with the gearbox being separate?
ie. prop shaft, gearbox, tail shaft, diff/transaxle?

2. Is this a spool gear?

3. Is this a combined diff/gearbox like the Nissan GTR?
ie. prop/tail shaft, to single unit gearbox/diff?

This diagram is about as about as helpful as a roomful of drunk jockeys of karaoke night.

Re Dale's comment:

Rims go from 15" to 18"
Rotor sizes go from 12.72" to 15.72"
They also go from 2 pot to 3 pot calipers.

Bigger rotors + more pots = more area to do work with more force = better braking.

I just keep going back to the thought that we don't have a physics set that will render these cars anywhere near realistic in NR2003...

Am I wrong?

No Sir.

N2k3 is at that point were modded exes will be needed.

While the physics will not give the feel of independent suspension, an edit of Cup engine power with CTS aero numbers gets you closer. Because of PTA you have 6 gears... so your able to have 5.

re rub blocks and ride height:

The 450SEL 6.9 (M-B) that I had, didn't have springs at all but had this weird "oleo gas" suspension system.
If you had a leak in the system and needed to get around, you had to put the car on a lift and insert these rubber blocks so that the minimum ride height of the car didn't cause the tyres to scrape the wheel wells.

When they talk about "rub blocks" in this, is that something which sits as a damper in the trailing arm setup (strut where appropriate) or are these spring inserts?

NASCAR Next Gen Organizational Testing November 17th/November 18th at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Oval (credit to NASCAR.com):

nascarsitegettyimages.jpg

"As NASCAR inches closer to the 2022 Busch Light Clash in February at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Next Gen testing will continue on Wednesday and Thursday at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Live streaming will be available on NASCAR’s YouTube and Facebook channels (11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday).

These testing sessions follow the series’ short-track test in October at
Bowman Gray Stadium that consisted of a Goodyear tire test and generational star power turning laps at the historic venue. Wednesday will mark the fourth time the Next Gen car has appeared on the oval layout at the Concord, North Carolina, track. Cup Series champions Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr. took part in the track’s test last year, Busch returned earlier this year, and wheel-force testing was conducted there in June.

This week’s session will feature a bigger roster of drivers and teams, as organizations are beginning to prepare for the 2022 season. The two-day organizational test allows teams to field their own cars, limiting entrants to one car for one- or two-car teams and two cars for three- or four-car teams. Recent changes to the Next Gen car’s structure include a position change for the exhaust and new slots on the rear windshield to reduce the temperature in the cockpit.

On-track activity is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Thursday. Each session is open to the media, and NASCAR.com will have a full report."

In the first Next Gen race (The Busch Clash at LA Coliseum,) the cars are going to get squeezed tight in there. Does anyone know if you hit the wall with the next gen it just kills the car with damage or not?
