Yep, it's a crew issue the wheel isn't broke
interesting choice of words considering the number of "broken wheels" there have been.

At any rate, if you guys are right, then the issue will be temporary as their "muscle memory" is retrained.

I guess time will tell

The directional thread can be for sure problematic. if you're not accustomed to it.

Meantime, is anyone not concerned with the safety issue of all these loose wheels bouncing all over the track? Apparently not.
At least not until someone gets seriously hurt I guess.

Yes I know there are fines and suspensions, but that doesn't really fix or address the problem until after the fact

I personally don't see why the new car couldn't have kept the old rim / lugnuts rather than "re-invent the wheel"
(see what I did there? LOL)

It likely is a combination of factors, not just muscle memory of the crew. This is the first season the crew has had to deal with this drastically new concept for them. Beyond muscle memory, they have to change their entire thought process and break all kinds of habits to make this work.

Also, this is still a new technology in this sport. Yes, other sports have used the single hub for years and it has worked great, and that should be noted when thinking of this new technology in NASCAR, but it is still a new technology in NASCAR. It is a new product, they didn't take these off a formula 1 car and put it on a NASCAR race car, they had to make one that would work specifically for NASCAR, and thus it may still have some bugs to be worked out. The racing is also very different in NASCAR, and these hubs may be stressed in new ways that haven't yet been anticipated.

It will get worked out in time, and unfortunately there is no better way to make the change than simply putting them on the car and making the teams work it out, but it will get there.

Funny how everyone says F1, IMSA and other series who use this type of wheel don't have problems yet they F1 uses a tire fitter and changer per wheel and IMSA uses a left side and right side team and both series are allowed to place their tires on pitroad before the stop. so its comparing apples to oranges.

The speed of the pitstop or how many crew are allowed is not the issue or used as an example.

It's the center lock nut/gun/hub. Still 1 person, 1 gun.

Not having to change the direction of the gun for each side is a huge difference they are not doing both sides they are only working on their tire or their side. Not doing fronts or rear. If the center hub is directional per side. This makes a huge difference on why they don't have the problem in other series vs. Cup

Again, it's not the tech...

It's the crew members having to learn to change the direction of the gun.

I need to go back and check ACO/Le Mans. I'm sure only select crew members can work on the car and they change wheels on both sides.
