Sprint Cup Series Alpha has been released
Burnout has released a Alpha series Sprint Cup Mod.

BXZtFSB.jpg

I’ve been making some new Sprint Cup Series models. It’s a big project for me, 5 makes in total. I just got tired of not having something that was much more accurate to the real cars to play with. Originally I wanted to get back into painting a few cool cars I seen from the 2016 NASCAR season, and I found out the models we had, just were not accurate. It forced me to change the scheme a bit, much of which was a pain because it really was quite a intricate paint job. so much of what I recreated after using photos for reference didn’t fit on the model. This was the reason why I quit painting cars in the first place. So instead of doing a half-ass conversion and ruining the original artist’s interpretation, I decided I’d just go ahead and make my own damn model. I made the Chevy SS and was just gonna leave it at that, but I had a lot of fun that I haven’t had in a long while so I decided to make even more models. In the end, I made 5 models total, the 2016 Chevy SS, 2016 Dodge Charger, 2016 Ford Fusion, 2016 Toyota Camry, and even the 2018 Toyota Camry. The models were a blast to make, especially the Charger. Seeing Dodge pulled out of NASCAR a few years back, I had freedom to kinda freestyle how I think it would look in NASCAR trim. And I feel I nailed the look. Even if I didn’t, the model looks bad ass nonetheless

To help alleviate the amount of posts from people looking for the link to the half-assed alpha I put together in the

This looks great. Thanks for releasing it. Can't wait to see the final product because just in carviewer the models look extremely accurate.

Been racing and painting this for a few days now and I'm entirely in love with it! :) I personally think the models look far superior to the Bullring one, especially in the ride-height department. Watching replays and such make it look almost like watching the product on TV.

Only complaint I have is that the roof-cam definitely needs some work done to it, but I'm sure that's a easy fix. Can't wait to see this thing reach the finish line!

Burnout post

"I wasn't gonna post this since the mapping on the models are gonna change when I fix them up, but I figured those who can run it may enjoy it. I will say right now, you download this at your own risk, there is 0, none, nadda support for this. I don't even need to know what's wrong with this because everything will be changed up after the new year. this will require a good computer becuase there are no LOD's, no flaps, no damage, and the car's front ends like to sink in the ground, lol. With that said, Happy Holidays everyone! "

So yeah, you can paint. :) Just know that the paints wont work on any updated models is all.

From what I've seen, the front-end issue doesn't seem to be consistent from any track. Daytona 2014 seemed to have little to no issues with it, although the BR tracks have a good degree of it

FPS aren't too bad considering there are no lods yet, I'm getting from 35 to 45 fps on the default tracks running 17 cars.

I was just informed that I had completely forgot to include the readme with the release. So here it is in it's entirety:

Merry Christmas Everyone! Today, I bring gifts for your enjoyment. While these may not be completely accurate, I do present to you some new 3d models in time for the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season. These models do have many issues in terms of accuracy and mapping, but I felt it would be best to release them so I can get a much broader opinion on what people think and if any more issue pop up. For that, I consider these to be in the alpha stage. Much of the chassis needs new textures and modeling work done still, the bodys have some quirks, but for now, it works for it's purpose. The (*.max) file is for 3ds Max 2009 and up, the (*.obj) is so you can import these into any other program of your choice, and of course the (*.x) is so you can enjoy them in CarView. These models are free to use for non-commercial purposes. And for the hell of it, I also included a alpha version that sorta works in-game. No LOD's, no damage, no working flaps, and it runs like crap on low end systems. I will not be giving support for the mod, you can download it at your own risk.

Credits:
Douglas Allen - models, mapping, scripting
Italo Rapacci - template parts, tester, reference
Dylan Baadte - templates, tester
Steve Rada - reference, tester
Chad Mikosz - tester
Daniel Rüppel - tester
James Hodge - tester
John Rose - original mainback (edited by me)

And a special thanks to Dave Robo for helping me to get these models working in-game, Denis Rioux for allowing me to use parts from the NWS mod, and another big thanks to Matt Muir for helping Italo with the Ford and Toyota.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

The only issue I have found is that GIMP will not let the templates save to the card.jpg, therefore preventing me from using car-viewer. Don't know if it the templates, or GIMP, but I've seen others do it OK.

I didn't have any luck in gimp (might be I haven't used it for a while), but had no troubles with psp9
