3dos have to be less than 1000 tris (per part). Any more than that the program (and NR) would crash.

Not only do the parts need to each be less than 1000 tris but optimized lods and low poly models is recommended becasue NR2003 has a bottleneck with poly count (as an older game) compared to newer titles it doesn't mater as much.

@DragoRyo
here is the model information:

Objects Referenced = 0
Total Materials = 25
Total Points = 23754
Total Faces = 7918
Deleted Faces = 0
Rendered Faces = 7918
Extents are (-193,083, -130,124, -6,350) (145,149,123,235,45,535)

Location Date
Points = 23754
Faces = 7918
Deleted Faces = 0
Extents are (-193,083, -130,124, -6,350) (145,149,123,235,45,535)

so based on them I should cut the model into pieces to work?

Yeah you have to slice the model up into smaller low poly parts
