No.
I'm within pretty easy driving distance of The Glen and Pocono

Speaking as an Australian Australian, who lives a land where distances are measured in hours and days, I think that the question of "How far is too far too drive?" is only determined by what time you need to be somewhere.
Test Match in Brisbane? That's about 12 hours away. Football match in Melbourne? That's 9 hours away. Motor race in Bathurst? That's 3 hours away. Something in Adelaide? That's 14 hours away.
Perth? Perth is 3 days... might not be feasible.

From what I can tell of America, America is about as big but with more stuff in it.

How far do you think is too far? And do my rules apply to you?

After about 4 hours on the interstate, I start to nod off. I would consider looking for plane tickets for anything beyond that.

NOTE: For the Too Long/Didn't Read (TL;DR) crowd, see the last two sentences.

Personally, I love hitting the open road and watching the countryside roll past as I make my way to whatever destination I travel to. So when it comes to driving, I don't have any issues with it. I am a very safe driver (been driving for 9 years, with no accidents, tickets, or citations on my record) who does the speed limit, keeps distance between myself and others, and finds alternative routes in order to avoid major traffic congestion, even if it adds an extra hour to my travel time (trust me, being stuck in 6+ lanes wide of bumper to bumper traffic in Los Angeles is not fun).

In regards to distance, so long as it is within a 12 hour drive or within a 800 mile radius from where the trip begins, I don't mind driving that long or that far. Back in 2016, I made the 517 mile drive (just over 8 hours) from my house all the way down to Auto Club Speedway for the 2016 Auto Club 400 race weekend. I had a blast making my way down Interstate 5 and taking in the sights on the west side of the valley as I headed south. On the way back up after the race, I took the alternate route up Highway 99 so I could see the sights on the eastern side of the valley. I very much enjoyed my trip (outside of driving over the Grapevine on Interstate 5 that is to the north of Los Angeles, which made for some nervous driving going up and down that steep mountain). I look forward to repeating that same drive when I attend the 2022 Busch Light Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in February (barring severe weather shutting down the Grapevine [snow/sleet/freezing rain], which would result in having to fly down from Sacramento to Los Angeles International Airport).

An example of a distance that I would not be willing to drive (reason explained below) is my upcoming trip to the Truck/Cup race weekend in June at World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway). I live in the northern part of California, and according to Google Maps, the drive from my house to the entrance of WWT Raceway is a staggering 2,003.7 miles (Google put it as a 29 and a half hour drive). Since it would take me 3+ days to drive there (and the fact that it is very, very hard [nearly impossible] to get more than 3 days off from my boss at the TV station I work at), I have to overcome my dislike of flying (makes me nervous) in order to attend the race weekend at Gateway. I have only flown five times in my life (last time was way back in 2007 when I took a Southwest plane from Sacramento to Phoenix so I could attend the 2007 Subway Fresh Fit 500[k] at Phoenix International Raceway), so it will be the sixth-ever time I have taken to the skies on a trip.

In a perfect world, I would be able to take a whole week's worth of time off (seven to eight days), make the 3-ish day drive (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) from California to St. Louis (where the hotel I am staying at is), spend two days there (Saturday and Sunday), save Monday as an emergency date (in case of rain delaying race to Monday), and then drive back to California (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Unfortunately, in the nine years I have worked at the local TV station, I have not had any luck convincing any of the four different bosses I have worked for over the years (in three different departments) to give me more than three days off for anything I've requested, so I have learned that making such a request is pretty much worthless (99.99995% chance of not happening). If I was able to get all of that time off, then I would gladly make the drive to St. Louis and back (would make for a fun road trip seeing all of the sights and passing through areas I have never been to).

TL;DR Version: I love driving, and will drive anywhere within a 12 hour/800 mile travel radius for a NASCAR race, sporting event, concert, or convention. Will not drive on a trip over 800 miles or if it takes more than a full day to drive there (example: 2,003.7 mile/29 and a half hour drive from my house to WWT Raceway outside St. Louis), mainly due to the difficulty of getting that much time off from work.

I was born and raised in Upstate NY, have family in South Jersey, went to college in Central PA, dated a woman from Eastern PA while in college, moved to Western MD after graduating, have a family cottage (the In-Laws own it) in the mountains of New Hampshire and good friends along the shore of Lake Erie near Buffalo....

From where the family and I currently live in Maryland we pretty regularly drive 3 hours to the In-Laws, 5.5 hours to my parents and at least twice a year drive 8+ hours to the cottage in NH. For much of my professional career my place of employment has been roughly an hour from home. So driving longer distances for events has never been an issue for me - in fact I think I prefer driving to flying. I don't have any issues with planes, I've definitely taken my fair share of them when time was at a premium, but I'm definitely of the mindset that the journey is half the fun. All of the sights you see along the road, the random places to stop, the natural beauty - you just skip all of that when you fly places. There's no adventure on a plane.

Driving 3 hours to a car event, staying for 4 hours and then doing another 3 back home isn't an uncommon occurrence for me during the summer months.

As far as tracks go.... let's see ... I'm 230 miles to VIR, 150 miles to Pocono, 190 to Watkins Glen, 115 to Dover, 140 to Richmond, 340 to Charlotte, 520 to Loudon, 520 to Indy..... those are all pretty doable.

I mean - heck - even Daytona is ONLY a 13 hour drive from here. Bring a spare driver and that can be done in one shot without a stay over.

If there was a race I REALLY wanted to go to - I'd say anything east of the Mississippi was fair game for me to take a long weekend and drive to see.

I'd love to see an event at Sonoma one day - but that 2,800 mile drive might be stretching things a little, hah

Being in the car for 3.5hrs to go watch Nascar - IMAX which is only 50mins+ to then travel home another 3.5hrs, LOL.
When I ran Cross-Country in High School my parents used to joke that their Saturday mornings consisted of them driving 3 hours to cheer me on for the 20 minute race and then hop back in the car for the 3 hours home. Lol

I'm 983 miles from Yellowstone National Park, we make the trip 3 times a year on average...with side trips and other excursions I have driven 6,500 miles on a summer trip...We're planning a road trip to Alaska very soon.

Road trips are what America is about...get out see the country, visit our amazing National Parks, famous landmarks, it changes you for the better

When I lived at home in South Jersey, I would drive anywhere reasonably (made the trip to CLT a couple times, which is roughly nine hours when traffic thru DC and Baltimore is *good*)

Now that I travel every week? 4's the limit in a car for me if I'm by myself. I can go 10 or so if I have someone with me. Other than that, much rather fly. Guess I've been spoiled a little lol

I did 36 hours once, Toronto to Calgary with a couple of power naps along the way. It takes 24 hours of driving from southern Ontario to the Manitoba border! I like driving as opposed to flying, you see more and you're not crammed into a tube, and with all this air rage that seems to be happening lately, I don't fell like being a witness to that drama. These days I can do 10 max no problem which gets me from London, Ontario to Halifax N.S. in two days

No.
I've done Adelaide to Sydney (19 hours) and Sydney to Bundaberg (14 hours) in one go.

I've also done LA to San Diego (12 hours) in one go.

Thinking about going from S. Alabama to Arizona next spring - It's just over 1600 miles, My max in a day is 600 to 800 miles or 12 hours. I figure 2 over night stops on the way with the 2nd stop being around 4 to 500 miles left.

Furthest I've driven by myself is, North Florida to Wisconsin. That was 1100 miles and 1 stop.

Oh!! Last time I went to Arizona, I Flew. :)
