I opened up gimp to paint a car and this ended up happening, I pressed a random key and the tool menu on the left dissapeared, if there is any way to bring the menu back, let me know

No.
1. Get cup of tea.
2. Open Gimp.
3. Click on Edit > Preferences
4. From any tab, click on the Reset button
5. A dialog box will open.
6. Click on the"Reset" button again and it should be OK.
7. Close Gimp.
8. Restart Gimp.
9. Drink tea.
10. WIN.

You can also go to windows>single window mode, and it will prevent any future accidental closures of the toolbox and layer docks.

It also looks nicer, though any direct transfer of layers (not just copy/paste but actually dragging the layers between files) becomes a bit of a pain in the ass if you don't know what you're doing.
