Exe modders

Is there any community out there who mod the exe (now or in the past)? I'm NOT talking about the physics editor. There clearly were with the gtp mod... (yes, I'm aware of the fraught history). ANY pointers would be welcomed.

I cannot seem to find where I found something on reddit before.
Tyler Mallon I think it was did some hex tweaking to the .exe.
