No.
We've now got eight from nine. Theonly repeat winner has been Truex.

It could very well come down to a situation where win and you're still not in is a thing. I'm feeling very bad for Mickey McGoat because even with a stupid system like the playoffs, if winning the Daytona 500 isn't enough, then that's a bit sad. Still, he's written his way into legend; so that's a thing.

What if Denny Hamlin end up second place in standing after regular season without win but there's 16+ different winner he will not advance to play off right ?

As I understand the rules, that's correct.
The system is nominally designed to make sure that if you can not win the championship unless you win a race.

If there are 16 different winners who were all a bunch of Nobby No-Hopes and Terrific Terry always finished in position 2, then Terry would not make it into the playoffs, despite having an average finishing position of 2.

(The best ever was Jeff Gordon who got 4.31 one year?)

I think we can get to 16 different winners this year.... Hamlin, Harvick and Elliot are non-winners, that will make 13 different. Other Potential winners are Kurt Busch, Austin Dillon and Matty D. = 16 different winners

Plus B. Wallace and Stenhouse could win with the way they run on restrictor plate tracks

I do not think that Kurt Busch can lift that Ganassi car any more than I think I could lift the Empire State Building. Kurt is personally fading into obscurity and Chip Ganassi's efforts are elsewhere (ie with Scott Dixon).

Matty Di could finally get his maiden win but I don't honestly see Dillion, Bubba or Wrecky Spinhouse getting a dub this year.

I'm willing to say that someone from SHR is going to win, through sheer randomness.

Well I think Matt Crafton in 2019 can break those "rule". Yes it isn't apple to apple but I really want see that happens. ( Champion with out win ).

The 2019 Truck series had 9 winners filing 16 spots; leaving 7 who didn't have to.
If there are 16 different winners filing 16 spots that leaves 0 who don't have to.

Apple to apples? Always.... because MATHS :D

Different question, same thread.

So there's 16 spots available. Ten are locked in, and three more are Denny, Harvick and Chase who, even if they don't win, I'd assume would make on points. Let's assume that they are the only other drivers to win a race before the playoffs, other than the already locked in 10.

Who are the other three who make it, do you think?

I think it'd be the two Childress cars and MDB. CGR have dropped off this year even by CGR standards, SHR have dropped off so far too (although don't count out any of their three cars for a late run) and RFR have improved but not quite enough for Buescher to sneak in IMHO.

Yep Dillion and Tyler will Probably make it, that leaves one spot and I'm going with Matty D.... Right now Chris Buescher has a spot, but I don't think he can hang on.

How about this, what if there are 17 winners(possible), who doesn't make it.. Michael McDowell ? is the lowest in points of the current winners.

See thread for more discussion - http://www.stunodracing.net/index.php?threads/who-wins-the-2021-cup-championship.11773/

Barring a late surge from an SHR or Newman, I think it's him vs Reddick vs Dibby for two spots.

Whoever's lowest in points. It'd be McDowell vs that 17th winner (unless the 7 YTW cars are 4, 9, 11, 17, 21, 3 and 8 in which case McDowell will get blown out of the water)

There are logically only four left: Dillon, Buscher, Reddick, DiBenedetto.

I am inclined to think that Matty D gets in based on what's left this season; with Dillon and Buscher.
It looks like SHR and Ganassi have given up on Gen-6. Ganassi in particular, are funelling brain power into Scott Dixon and Álex Palou.

Huh, giving up on Gen6 wouldn't be the dumbest thing to do at this point for SHR. Maybe give a bit to Harvick and for the other three focus on 2022. That could in theory make them a force.
