So with the new NextGen Templates and CarViewer files out in the wild, I decided to toodle around with some Next Gen paints myself, using the modern number layout. These will likely end up as a personal variety carset.

Scott Riggs Blank White Toyota
36 Scott Riggs White.png
I decided to start with Tommy Baldwin's 2009 cars as an inspiration. These are not exact 1:1 replicas, but rather a more laid back "fun" project where I don't have to stress over minute details.

Scott Riggs Blank Blue Toyota
36 Scott Riggs Blue.png
I saw a photo somewhere from when TBR's 2009 schemes were revealed, a medium-light blue was posted along with the white that would end up running races, and I felt it would make for a nice alternate.

Micheal McDowell Blank Black Toyota
36 Micheal McDowell Black.png
This is a fictional black version of the above car, with the "Texas Twister" behind the wheel. A simple scheme deviation to differentiate him from Rigg's entries.

Robert Richardson Jr Mahindra/North Texas Pipe
36 Robert Richardson Jr Mahindra.png
This is a mix of the 2009-2010 TBR base, the colors from his 2011 Daytona 500 entry, and a mix of his 2009-2010 and 2011-2012 sponsors. The only funded paint scheme of the lot, will basically be a SuperSpeedway ringer.

Note that I am not using the banner names for this carset, as again, it is a somewhat fictionalized and simplified carset.

Now shifting gears again to the NNC07 2005 project, I have 3 new cars, all basically variants of the same scheme.

2005 Joe Nemechek Centrix Financial- Atlanta I/Phoenix II
01 Joe Nemechek Centrix.png
This scheme would run in 2 events, at the first Atlanta race and the second Phoenix race. At Atlanta, Nemechek started 4th and ran strong for most of the race, until the engine let go with 45 laps left to run, ending up 35th. The Phoenix race was much more quiet, starting 18th and ending the race one spot up in 17th.

2005 Scott Riggs Centrix Financial - Phoenix I/Texas II
10 Scott Riggs Centrix.png
Riggs also ran the scheme twice, his first outing at the first Phoenix event, where he started 16th, and finished 18th, and at the fall Texas race, where he started 22nd, and finished 34th, 3 laps off the pace.

2005 Boris Said Centrix Financial - Various
36 Boris Said Centrix.png
2005 saw Boris Said run the most cup races of his career, attempting 12 and starting 9. His best results came on the road courses, including a 3rd at Watkins Glen, but the rest of his outings were nothing to get excited about, with only 3 top 30's to speak of on the non road events.

Here are a handful of 2005 cup cars I made a week or two ago, that I have yet to post/

2005 Brian Vickers Dietech/GMAC Chevy - Various
25 Brian Vickers Ditech.png
2005 was a much better year for Brian Vickers, the sophmore driver improving in almost all catagories over 2005, including one pole 5 top 5's, 10 top 10's, and a 17th p;ace points finish. While for a Hendrick car, this wasn't spectacular, it was upwards progress. Sadly Vickers never really took the next step at HMS and would be out within 2 years.

2005 Paul Tracy GM Goodwrench Chevy - Fictional Concept
33 Paul Tracy Goodwrench.png
Then ChampCar driver Paul Tracy tested a RCR chevrolet in 2005, as he looked towards NASCAR as a career path, one of the many openwheelers to come to the sport in the coming years. He was supposed to run one of the Michigan races, but it never came to be, and Tracy ran a handful of BGN starts in 2006 with Frank Cici instead. The real life test car was one of Harvick's Goodwrench Chevy's with a white #33 hastily slapped on it, which I ran with for this concept car.

Today I cooked up 4 variants of a single scheme, each with a different driver.

2005 Kasey Kahne Great Clips Dodge BGN - Various
38 Kasey Kahne Great Clips.png
2005 saw Kasey Kahne run 10 races for Akins Motorsports, mainly due to him running as a fill in for the Evernham #6 after Paul Wolfe was released. These 19 races included a win at Texas, the first of two Grand National triumphs that season.

2005 Tyler Walker Great Clips Dodge BGN - Various
38 Tyler Walker Great Clips.png
Tyler Walker came into the year running the races Kahne wasn't. And in those races he struggled mightily, including 6 DNF's (5 being crash related,) and only 5 time finishing on the lead lap. Eventually Waker was canned from the Evernham/Dodge development ladder after back to back crashes at IRP and The Glen.

2005 Mike Wallace Great Clips - Various
38 Mike Wallace Great Clips.png
After Walkers departure, Mike Wallace came on board to run the #38 in the non-Kahne races. A best finish of 12th came during this period, and Akins Motorsports eventually settled on its future prospect.

38 A.J. Foyt IV Great Clips.png
Anthony Joseph Foyt the IV, Dodge Developmet driver and grandson on the legendary SuperTex was signed to run the last 4 races of the year. 3 of which he crashed out of. He would fall by the wayside early 2006, and now is a Scouting Coach for the Indianapolis Colts.

New Busch Cars alert. This time two one off backmarkers that nobody knows about.

2004 Steve Grissom Veron Coatings/Red Cactus Salsa Chevy - Phoenix II
93 Steve Grissom Veron Red Cactus.png
At the fall Phoenix race, GIC-Mixon Motorsports entered their then main driver Steve Grissom into a second car, while Jason Jefferson ran the #24. Grissom would outrun the teams main car, finishing a respectable 25th after starting shotgun on the grid.

2005 Mike Harmon Global Pidgeon Services Pontiac -- Nashville I
54 Mike Harmon Global Pidgeon Supply.png
Yep, you read that right. Pontiac. Gilbert Oostlander entered a few Busch races with Mike Harmon behind the wheel late in 2004, before moving to the Truck series. But they would enter the now at least 3 year old Pontiac at Nashville. Suprisingly they made the race, rolling off in the 36th position before going behind the wall on lap 35 with an engine failure, earning them last place honors.

I've made a few cars over the past week and a bit, so here they are.

2005 Brent Sherman Serta Mattresses/Hickory Farms Dodge - Primary
58 Brent Sherman Serta Hickory Farms.png
Brent Sherman started off 2005 in the second Akins car, after a few races in 2004 to prepare the team for the forthcoming challenges. The team DNQ'd twice, as Daytona and later in the year at Richmond. But after Charlotte poor Sherman found himself out of a ride, as The #58 team was sold off to Scott Glynn, and he'd be replaced by Regan Smith. Sherman would end off the year for PPC Racing replacing Michel Jourdain due to a lack of sponsorship.

2005 Regan Smith Glynn Motorsports Dodge - Various
58 Regan Smith Glynn Blue.png
Regan Smith's tenure with the team would go though the second to last race at Phoenix, with 6 top 10 starting spots, but no top 10 finished, and a year end avg finish of 26 flat.

2005 Clay Rogers Blank Dodge - Phoenix II

92 Clay Rogers Blank White.png
Clay Rogers, who had been running several Truck races with the organization was given the chance to run a second car at Phoenix. Unfortunately for the Hooters Pro Cup regular, he fell out at the 110 lap mark with transmission issues.

2005 Jeff Burton Cingular Wireless Chevy - Primary
31 Jeff Burton Cingular Wireless.png
The Mayors first full season with RCR wasn't much of an improvement over his 2004 campaign. One extra top 5, and a worse average start, wrapping up with an identical 18th place finish in the points.

2005 Greg Sacks Blank Blue Dodge - Pocono I
13 Greg Sacks Blank Blue.png
This car is essentially the same car ran at the tail end of 2004, just without the sponsor decals. Sacks would park the car 13 laps in, finishing dead last in the process.

Over the past week I have found the time to make 3 cars (well, one of them is a slight variation of another)

2005 Dave Blaney Jack Daniels - Primary
07 Dave Blaney Jack Daniel's.png
Before Clint Bowyer finished the Daytona 500 on his roof, the Old No.7 was piloted by journeyman driver Dave Blaney. The Buckeye Bullet only scored 2 top 10's, and had a mostly unremarkable year, finishing 26th in the standings, though he did only failed to finish twice.

2005 Dave Blaney Jack Daniels Yellow Roof Number - Superspeedways
07 Dave Blaney Jack Daniel's Yellow Number.png
As often seen in NASCAR, Flourescent/Bright Colored numbers were used to make spotters job easier on the plate tracks.

2005 Morgan Shepherd Racing with Jesus Ministries - Various
89 Morgan Shepherd Racing With Jesus.png
With a much stronger field in 2005, Morgan Shepherd only qualified for 4 races, failing to finish in all of them. Saddled with 16 DNQ's and 4 withdrawls, the year was definitely a trying one for the 63 year old owner driver.

So a while back, I was trying to get a Pontiac Grand Prix for the S&G 2005 Cup mod (since NR2003 can only have 4 models, and they swapped the GP for the Charger)

The first attempt was on a Monte Carlo, untowhich the GP shared a platform with IRL. This turned into one of the most cursed things I have made yet.
Pontiac 2005.png

So Today I decided to go with the Charger instead due to it's shape profile, which turned out much better.

It's been a bit, but I haven't been sitting around doing nothing. Actually, I'm undertaking a fairly large project, and that is converting my work over to the S&G Cup_05 mod.

While I enjoyed the NNC07 mod, I felt the urge to change things up, and knowing I have a LOT of unfinished half started projects, why not try to consolidate them into one larger project rather than letting the work collect dust.

S&G Paint Schemes 2006 V1.png

S&G Paint Schemes 2007 V1.png

Here is where I am at right now. The 2006 project was an old project that ended up being mothballed, then partially repurposed into the 2006 carset released by StarClonesProductions. Some additional cars have been made since, mainly the #09 Miccosukee Dodge and the Hamlin Chevy's, the prior was from a random set of Phoenix racing cars I made for reasons I no longer remember, while the FedEx cars were the 2007 cars but slightly modified.

2007 meanwhile was another project that stalled about a year ago(maybe longer, I don't recall) but I again went through and touched up. The Front Row #34 and #37 cars and the #40 Coors Light Dodge were converted from NNC07 projects(#40 fairly recent, #34/37 MUCH older) and touched up to meet my current standards, while the Almirola car was one I started but never finished, so I finally dragged it across the finish line.

I would put credits, but since most of these cars are about a year old I've forgotten where a lot of the stuff came from (whoops.)

Updates on the 2006 and 2007 carsets. Still have been hard at work cranking these out when I have time.

2006
S&G Paint Schemes 2006 V2.png

2007
S&G Paint Schemes 2007 V2.png

2006 sees most of the recent work. These include a suite of Robby Gordon Menards cars, the remaining Evernham Primaries, a few alternate Phoenix Racing cars(one of which is a ford of all things), a selection of R&J Racing unsponsored entries, the start of Front Row Motorsports, MB2's full time competitors, alongside Harvick, Johnson, and Stewart.

2007 sees an alternate Stremmie, a pair of Wuhd Buhtuns and a flurry of Evernham cars.

Here is another update as of these past few weeks.

S&G Paint Schemes 2007 V3.png

Only 2007 this time as that is where most of my progress has been. I've done a pair of Ragan's, a trio of Robby's, Junebug and Menard, Newman's Mobil 1, Yeley's All-Star Open, a bunch of Biffle variants, and Stremmie's Target ride. Slowly the roster gets filled.

I've taken a break from my 2006 and 2007 carset, and being the indecisive person I am, shifted back to NNC07 to make 2 fictional templates for long dead makes.

2003 Oakland Phoenix
2003 Oakland Phoenix.png
Oakland was a car company founded way back in 1907, and was bought by General Motors in 1909. It would then be the mid-low priced brand above Chevrolet and below Oldsmobile. It would eventually get a companion make as part of GM's plans at the turn of the 30's for further market exploitation, which would become the Pontiac brand we all know and love today. Eventually Oakland was killed off as Pontiac replaced it.

BUT what if it didn't, or got some revival for some reason? Here is where the Oakland Phoenix concept comes in. The idea is that it shares much of the body with the Pontiac Grand Prix, with different Headlights and Taillights taken from the Bonneville, as well as different front and rear fascia (though on a stock car much of this has been simplified for aerodynamics)

The Phoenix nameplate came from the Pontiac Phoenix, which replaced the Ventura as the platforms X-body nameplate. Oakland didn't survive into the era of model name designations, so I took a lesser known nameplate from it's Pontiac brother.

2004 DeSoto Rebel
2005 DeSoto Rebel.png
DeSoto was a brand founded in 1928 as a part of the Chrysler Corporation, as a backup to put pressure on the owners of Dodge, which they were in the process of acquiring. In the end, both brands coexisted into the 50's as mid-market brands, but DeSoto always had to compete against Dodge for rights at the table, and eventually this would ultimately doom the brand at the turn of the 60's.

This was an idea, to give the MOPAR contingent a potential 4th make alongside Chrysler, Dodge, and an (eventually) rebooted Plymouth. The DeSoto Rebel would share a platform with the Dodge Stratus and Chrysler Sebring. Compared to it's other counterparts, the DeSoto would Carry Intrepid Tailights, a single grill compared to the Dodges Cross Grill (but smaller and placed higher up that the Sebring) and more angular headlights(which in this case are just 2004 Dodge Headlights upside down)

The Name comes from an existing DeSoto model sold in South Africa, a rebadge of thee Dodge Lancer, which oddly enough was sold from 1961-1963, after the DeSoto brand was discontinued in the US.

So those are the latest in alt-templates/makes concocted in this mad-scientists think tank. What do you think?

For the 2006 carsets, there's a few cars which haven't been made for any mod
71 Jason Leffler
50 Larry Foyt
83 and 84 Red Bulls of Bill Elliott and AJ Allmendinger
80 Carl Long
13 Greg Sacks
If you added them that would be awesome to see them actually made

I've already done the #13 of Sacks and the #50 of Foyt, while the #71 of Leffler is one in the works, but I can't update anything until my computer comes back from the works.

Here are some Cup2000 stuff I have been working on

1996-Oldsmobile-Cultass-Classic.png

1996-Oldsmobile-Cultass-Decaled.png

First an update to my Oldsmobile Cutlass Template to make it more accurate to the real car.

Then a pair of Cup2000 fictionals that came to my head.
