Okay, I've done Google searches and even though I've found discussions about this, I haven't found any help that provides a step-by-step process. I'm not even sure if this is possible and I'm very new to this. I have Gimp and Paint.net. I've downloaded completed cars and trucks. I launch the game, go into Opponent Manager and export them so I have them as .tga files. I want to load the .tga file using Gimp or Paint.net and change the drivers name on the banner. Is this possible and if so, what are the steps to accomplish this? I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

No.
if you only want to change a banner, then opening the TGA and then starting new layers on top of that is the fastest option.

Open up a new layer, colour in a Black rectangle thing on top of that and add your words on top of that.

Really, it's more like adding a lot of layers of stickers on the top. This is a nice video.

You'll want to add more than just a name banner... :D

I watched that video, but the guy goes way too fast and doesn't explain the steps very well. "How to paint a car (quick & easy)"...yeah, maybe for him, but for us beginners his video is more quick than easy. Sorry, don't mean to be a complainer (but I guess I am..Lol). I know the people who post these videos are just trying to help, but it's frustrating when you're a beginner and they go too fast. I appreciate your help Rollo 75. It gives me a starting point to hopefully figure it out myself.

Is the file you have a layered file like .psd or something that will allow you to toggle the banner name off and rename it... if now you will need to import the .tga file into your editor like gimp and use your brush or pin tool to cover the name and place your new name over it with next or a image you have already.

It's not a layered .psd file, it's a .tga file. I'll have to go with yours and Rollo75's suggestion of blacking out the name and place a new name over it. Thanks

Your welcome to post the flat and give me the name. I'll be more than happy to help if needed.

Had to step away from this, but finally had a chance to get back to it. Tried the suggestion of blackening out the name and it worked. In Gimp used the Paint Tool to blacken out the name, then used the Text Tool to type out the new name, Rotate Tool to rotate it 90 degrees (was changing the name on a truck) and then Move Tool to move it into place. Exported and replaced the original .tga file and used WinMip2 to import the .tga into the .car file and saved/replaced the original .car file. Viewed it within the game and it looks great. Thanks to you all for your help. Very much appreciated.
