PROJECT: Short Track Presents SEEKONK SPEEDWAY... "The Cement Palace"

This project has been over a year in the making and we knew it would be one of our most difficult challenges to duplicate all of it's intricacies. However, we feel we have given it proper justice with this effort in both it's uncanny detailing and fun race-ability. We pulled out all the stops in our effort to recreate this awesome 1/3 mile oval and give it a great immersive experience, especially for those who frequent the track on a regular basis.

Built in 1946 by D. Anthony Venditti, this family owned bullring has been a one of the top venues in the Northeast and a favorite among fans and drivers alike. The track has hosted many of the top regional touring series throughout it's existence, including: the Whelen Modified Tour (WMT), Busch North Series, Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and the Northeastern Midget Association (NEMA) to name a few, but it also features a stout field of classes including Pro Stocks, Late Models, Pure Stocks and more in it's regular weekly shows.

This version of Seekonk 2022 PST features a single row of working pit stalls for 25 cars. The entry to the pits is in turn 3 and the exit from the pits is at turn 4. (This is just the opposite of how the real-life pits work at Seekonk where entry to pits is in turn 4 and the exit back onto the track is out of turn three.) However, we could not set it up like the real-life Seekonk to work properly in NR2003.

We also set up the track so a 200 lap race could be run without you or the A.I. pitting for tires or gas (although a caution on lap one may result in some A.I. cars opting to pit). The reason for setting it up this way is that you and the A.I. will lose a lap under almost all circumstances if you opt for a pit stop during the race. By making the decision to limit pit stops only for cars that have sustained damage, it greatly improved the overall racing experience.

In addition, as we always do, good baseline Fast setups are also provided to get you immediately competitive with the A.I..

In closing, I want to give a shout out once again to my PST team members Ben Althen, Ian Smythe, Mike Ehresman, Carl Sundberg and Wayne Anderson who all spent considerable time making miscellaneous contributions to this and mostly all PST projects. I also want to acknowledge my friends and old track making colleagues, Matt Gilson and Aaron Maynard, who created the original Seekonk Speedway track for NR2003 nine long years ago in 2013.

Finally, PLEASE read the CREDITS README file provided with the track for more very important info on the A.I., the challenges they may present and how to get the best racing experience from Seekonk 2022 PST.

This project has truly been another labor of love and as it turns out, it's release will be quite timely as the Whelen Modified Tour has announced they it will be returning to Seekonk in 2023. Have fun trading paint at our version of Seekonk 2022 PST Speedway... "The Action Track of The East"!"
