I had the game crash on me when an AI car fell off the edge of the track, which can happen when exiting the chicane after the top of the hill before the pits start. There's a segment of grass stretched way down there, so instead of hitting an invisible wall, the AI drops down instead, which apparently the game really doesn't like.
