The 2008 NASCAR Cup schemes to the Redline GTP Mod
This set was began in 2008 by "Bobby Isaac" and "Highbank" and was never completed. Ten years later we did a community set with the same theme at Stunod Racing using 2018 schemes, it was inspired by these paints and led to my wanting to see this actually see some daylight. The NASCAR paint schemes have always looks fantastic on the GTP cars and I feel it helps crossover of interest in using the GTP mod by the hardcore NASCAR fan base that makes up the NR2003 community.
A word about the ratings used for this set. The base ratings were created using the NRatings program for the 2008 NASCAR Cup Series ratings. Testing was conducted using a 100% ai strength setting. As you change that setting these ratings will be affected.Then modifications were applied with considerations given to the many open-wheel drivers that were attempting to make a splash in the NASCAR world in 2008. Being that this a GTP mod set, and will be primarily if not always used on road courses, I felt it would be fair and somewhat realistic to give these guys a leg up in that arena.
You will see that Jimmie Johnson, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, and Jeff Gordon will be strong contenders as they were in 2008, but the afore mentioned class of drivers will also be upfront as well. Marcos Ambrose, Dario Franchitti, Juan Pablo Montoya, AJ Allmendinger, Max Papis, Boris Said, and others will be seen in the front of the pack regularly to give this a feel that might of been accurate. Ratings being what they are are never perfect and you may well disagree with those applied to these cars, obviously you are free to make whatever adjustments you like...your sim, your set, your rules!
Unlike the 2018 set mentioned above these cars were all done on the Toyota model.
No additional driver car is included so pick your favorite or create your own car...have fun...

Pit Crews were taken from SBR's 2008 SimCOT set...with a few additional sets made by Highbank and DaleTona. Also the #13 pit crew was done by Jebrown, (lifted without notification or permission)...THANKS SBR!!!
Special thanks to DaleTona for stepping up and helping me finish the set with addition of a few, what I feel were important alternate and additional schemes...I'd still be working on this without his help!
