I seem to enjoy punishing myself with these vintage projects eh?
Here is the 1997 Thunder Special Suzuka - the 2nd year for the Japanese Exhibition race featuring drivers from Cup, BGN, Craftsman Truck, Winston West, North and a few international drivers from Japan and Australia.
This download features all 30 competitors, crew, ratings and includes the Suzuka East track edited to allow all 30 cars.
I cannot stress enough how this set would have been impossible to complete - especially the Winston West cars - without the assistance of some actual drivers, crew members and their families. Quite by accident I stumbled into a "Fans of Winston West" group on Facebook looking for ANY information on the more obscure cars for this set. I received replies from John Kinder, Larry Gunselman, Jeff Davis, Sean Woodside, Gary Smith, Kevin Culver, Scott Gaylord's wife and son... and many more. They happily shared personal photos and stories of their trip to Japan and answered my random questions about what all of those teeny associate sponsors on their cars were.
They are the one's this set is really dedicated to - those unsung drivers in the feeder series' who rarely get the same spotlight the Cup drivers do.
